2010–11 Swansea City A.F.C. Season
The 2010–11 season was Swansea City's 82nd season in the Football League. They finished in 3rd place, and won the Championship playoff, to win promotion to the Premier League. It was their first return to top-flight football since 1983. The season was their third consecutive season in the second tier following a 7th-placed finish in the previous campaign, narrowly missing out on a play-off place. During pre-season, Paulo Sousa left the club by mutual consent, and then later succeeded Nigel Pearson as the new Leicester City manager on 7 July. Brendan Rodgers was appointed as the new manager of Swansea on 16 July, on a 12-month rolling contract. Swansea City A
Swansea (; cy, Abertawe ) is a coastal city and the second-largest city of Wales. It forms a principal area, officially known as the City and County of Swansea ( cy, links=no, Dinas a Sir Abertawe). The city is the twenty-fifth largest in the United Kingdom. Dorus De Vries
Dorus de Vries (born 29 December 1980) is a Dutch former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. De Vries began his professional career in his native the Netherlands with Telstar, before spending three seasons with ADO Den Haag. He moved to Britain in 2006, when he spent a season at Scottish club Dunfermline Athletic. before moving to Swansea City where he spent four seasons, culminating in promotion to the Premier League in 2011. He rejected a new deal with Swansea to instead join Wolverhampton Wanderers, with whom he spent two seasons largely as back-up. De Vries then signed for Nottingham Forest in July 2013. Stephen Dobbie
Stephen Dobbie (born 5 December 1982) is a Scottish former professional footballer. He is Senior Professional Development Phase coach at his former club Blackpool. Dobbie is Queen of the South's second-highest goalscorer of all time (166 goals) and the club's record scorer for a single season (43 goals in the 2018-19 season). He started his career in the 2002–03 season at Rangers, followed by spells at Hibernian and St Johnstone. His career was revived by a loan spell at Dumbarton in 2006, and he then scored 55 goals in 105 appearances for Queen of the South in his first spell at Palmerston Park, playing in the club's first-ever appearance in the Scottish Cup Final in 2008. David Cornell
David Joseph "Dai" Cornell (born 28 March 1991) is a Welsh professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club Preston North End. He has represented the Wales under-21 team. Club career Swansea City After progressing through Swansea City's Academy, Cornell was included in Swansea's senior squad for their 2008 pre-season tour of Spain. Nathan Dyer
Nathan Antony Jonah Dyer (born 29 November 1987) is an English former professional footballer who played as a winger, spending most of his career at Swansea City, where he made over 300 appearances. He started playing as a teenager at Southampton, making the first team. He has also had loan spells with Sheffield United, Burnley and Leicester City, where he was part of the team that won the 2015–16 Premier League. Cedric Van Der Gun
Cedric van der Gun (born 5 May 1979) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a winger. Club career Ajax/Loan Spells Born in The Hague, Van der Gun started his professional football at AFC Ajax when he first joined at fifteen years old. Van Der Gun was part of the senior squad of the club in the 1998–99 season, but did not play. He then joined FC Den Bosch in the 1999–2000 season and made his debut in the Eredivisie. Andrea Orlandi Stabilin (born 3 August 1984) is a Spanish former footballer and who played as a winger or an attacking midfielder. Craig Beattie (born 16 January 1984) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a striker. He started his career with Celtic before moving on to West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City, where he had loan spells with several Football League clubs. Darren Pratley
Darren Antony Pratley (born 22 April 1985) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for League Two club Leyton Orient as club captain. Club career Fulham Starting his career at Fulham after signing from local rivals Arsenal, Pratley signed his first professional contract with the club in 2002. Pratley made his debut in a League Cup match at Wigan Athletic on 23 September 2003, coming on as a substitute for Andrejs Stolcers. David Cotterill
David Rhys George Best Cotterill (born 4 December 1987) is a Welsh former footballer who played as a winger. Born in Cardiff, Cotterill began his career at Bristol City before signing for Premier League Wigan Athletic where he spent two seasons before switching to Sheffield United, initially on loan and then later on a permanent deal. He then transferred to Swansea City in his native Wales, before spending a spell on loan at Portsmouth and then joining Barnsley. Ferrie Bodde
Ferrie Bodde (born 5 May 1982 in Delft) is a Dutch former footballer who played as a midfielder. He is currently a coach at Eredivisie team ADO Den Haag. Career ADO Den Haag Bodde started his senior career with Dutch side ADO Den Haag, signing professional forms with them in July 2000 at the age of 18. Bodde spent seven years with the club, playing over 150 games and scoring ten goals. Alan Tate (footballer)
Alan Tate (born 2 September 1982) is an English professional football coach and retired footballer who is an assistant head coach at Nottingham Forest. A former defender, Tate spent the majority of his playing career at Swansea City. After retiring from playing, Tate moved into coaching with Swansea, before joining Nottingham Forest in 2021. Playing career Born in Easington, County Durham, Tate began his career as a trainee at Manchester United, later earning himself a professional contract. Although he went on to captain United's reserve team, which included such players as Quinton Fortune, Luke Chadwick and Chris Eagles, he failed to break into the first team.
