Scunthorpe () is an Industrial city, industrial town and unparished area in the Unitary authorities of England, unitary authority of North Lincolnshire in Lincolnshire, England of which it is the main administrative centre. Scunthorpe had an estimated total population of 82,334 in 2016. A predominantly industrial town, the town is the United Kingdom's largest steel processing centre and is also known as the "Industrial Garden Town". It is the third largest settlement in Lincolnshire, after Lincoln, Lincolnshire, Lincoln and Grimsby. Tony Daws
Anthony Daws (born 10 September 1966 in Sheffield) is an English football coach and former professional footballer, he is academy manager of National League side Scunthorpe United. As a player, he was a striker and played for Notts County, Sheffield United, Scunthorpe United, Grimsby Town, Lincoln City, Halifax Town, Scarborough and Altrincham. A recurring back injury that first occurred during his spell at Scunthorpe United forced him to retire from playing at a relatively early age. He then took up junior coaching positions at Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday before becoming academy manager at Scunthorpe United - he was interim manager of the club from 1 September to 28 November 2022. Andrew Hughes (footballer, Born 1978)
Andrew John Hughes (born 2 January 1978 in Manchester) is an English footballer who is a first team coach for club Norwich City. Known for his versatility, his main position is as a central midfielder, but he also played regularly at fullback during his career. Hughes played over 100 games for each of Notts County, Reading and Leeds United. Playing career Hughes began his career at Oldham Athletic making 44 appearances scoring once before joining Notts County, where he made 130 appearances scoring 18 times. At Notts County Hughes helped earn them the Division Three championship. Reading He joined Reading on 5 July 2001 on a three-year deal as a replacement for Darren Caskey, but Notts County and Reading failed to agree a transfer fee and this was later set at around £250,000 by a tribunal. Chris Dagnall
Christopher Dagnall (born 15 April 1986) is an English footballer who plays for side Hanley Town. He began his career at Tranmere Rovers, where he debuted age 17 in 2003. In January 2006 he was loaned to Rochdale, where he moved permanently in the summer. He scored 60 goals across all competitions for the Dale, leaving for Scunthorpe United in 2010 after helping them achieve promotion to League One. In January 2012, he signed for Barnsley, where he struggled and was loaned to Bradford City and Coventry City. He spent 18 months scoring more frequently at Leyton Orient, before moving in 2015 to Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League, leaving after one season to join Hibernian. The team captain of an association football team, sometimes known as the skipper, is a team member chosen to be the on-pitch leader of the team; they are often one of the older or more experienced members of the squad, or a player that can heavily influence a game or has good leadership qualities. Clifford "Cliff" Byrne (born 26 April 1982) is an Irish former Association football, footballer, who is currently Assistant Manager at Peterborough United F.C., Peterborough United. Byrne previously played for Sunderland A.F.C., Sunderland. He took part in a UEFA 'B' coaching course in summer 2005. Following the departure of Izzy Iriekpen Byrne was given the captaincy of the side. Robert William Jones (born 3 November 1979) is an English football coach and former professional footballer. Jones played as a defender having started his career with York City, before playing as a semi-professional for Whitby Town, Northallerton Town, Spennymoor United and Gateshead, he soon moved into the Football League in 2003 with Stockport County. After a brief loan spell with Macclesfield Town, Jones joined Grimsby Town, where his performances in the 2005–06 season earned him a move to Scottish Premier League club Hibernian. Jones captained Hibs as the club won the 2007 Scottish League Cup Final, in which he scored the opening goal. He moved to Scunthorpe United in 2009 for a club record fee, before signing for Sheffield Wednesday in 2011. Samuel James Togwell (born 14 October 1984) is an English former professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for club Beaconsfield Town. He began his career with Crystal Palace in 2002, where he was loaned out to Oxford United, Northampton Town, and Port Vale. In July 2006 he transferred to Barnsley, before he joined Scunthorpe United in August 2008. He helped the "Iron" to win promotion out of the League One play-offs in 2009.
