2010–11 Purdue Boilermakers Men's Basketball Team
The 2010–11 Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball team represented Purdue University. The head coach was Matt Painter, in his sixth season with the Boilers. The team played its home games in Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana, and was a member of the Big Ten Conference. Purdue finished the season 26–8, 14–4 in Big Ten play to finish in second place. As the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten tournament, they lost to Michigan State in the quarterfinals. They received a bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 3 seed in the Southwest Region. Matt Painter
Matthew Curtis Painter (born August 27, 1970) is an American basketball coach and former player. He is currently the men's basketball coach at Purdue University, having held that position since 2005. Before Purdue, Painter held coaching positions at Southern Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Barton College, and Washington & Jefferson College. Painter runs a motion offense. Painter's teams are also known for their "stout, stingy, defense" and their "overwhelming offense." Since taking the helm at Purdue, Painter's teams have consistently placed in the top 15 of offensive and defensive efficiency nationally. John R. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 - February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. The Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball team is part of the University of Iowa athletics department.
