2009–10 Lega Basket Serie A
The 2006–07 Lega Basket Serie A season, known as the Serie A TIM for sponsorship reasons, was the 88th season of the Lega Basket Serie A, the highest professional basketball league in Italy. The regular season ran from 11 October 2009 to May 2010. The top 8 teams made the play-offs whilst the lowest ranked teams, B.C. Ferrara and the bankrupt club NSB Napoli, were relegated to the Legadue. Montepaschi Siena won their 5th title by winning the playoff finals series against Armani Jeans Milano. Rules Format The participating 16 teams disputed the regular season based on home-and-away matches. At the end of regular season, the highest ranked 8 teams were admitted into play-off, with the lowest two ranked teams being relegated to LegADue Squad rules Every team was allowed to present in its roster up to 6 athletes that haven't been "formed" in Italy (of which at least 3 have to be citizens of European Union), out of total 12 players in squad. Teramo Basket was a professional basketball club that is based in Teramo, Italy. Established in 1960, Teramo played in the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA), Italy's top league, for 10 years before they were moved to the Serie B. The team played at PalaScapriano. In 2012 the team was dissolved after financial problems. History The club was founded by Carlo Antonetti in 1973 under the name AICS (''Association of Italian Culture and Sports'') Teramo. After several championships played at regional level and successful youth teams, in the 1992-93 season Teramo Basket finally accomplished its first promotion to the national championship series C1. Pallacanestro Virtus Roma, commonly known as Virtus Roma, was an Italian professional basketball club based in Rome, Lazio. It competed in the first division of Italian basketball, the LBA, for the last time in the 2020–21 season. It was formerly a major side in Europe, winning the 1983–84 FIBA European Champions Cup ( EuroLeague), and at one time being one of only 13 clubs to hold a EuroLeague A license.
