2010–11 Chinese Basketball Association Season
The 2010–11 CBA season is the 16th CBA season. Guangdong Southern Tigers won their fourth consecutive and overall seventh CBA title, defeating Xinjiang Flying Tigers in the Finals for a third year in a row, four games to two. Changes After a one-year suspension due to salary reasons, Yunnan Bulls were removed from the CBA. All teams except Bayi Rockets can have two foreign players while the bottom 5 teams of last season have an extra right to sign an Asian player. Generally, Asian players are not counted as foreign players, and foreign players of each team can play no more than 6 quarters collectively each game. However, when facing Bayi Rockets, Asian players are counted as foreign ones while foreign players can play no more than 5 quarters collectively. Players from Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei are counted as domestic players in either situation. Chinese Basketball Association
The Chinese Basketball Association (), often abbreviated as the CBA, is the first-tier professional men's basketball league in China. The league is commonly known by fans as the CBA, and this acronym is even used in Chinese on a regular basis. The CBA should not be confused with the National Basketball League (NBL), which is a professional minor league. There is also a Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA). Foshan Dralions
The Guangzhou Loong Lions () are a Chinese professional basketball team based in Guangzhou, Guangdong. They play in the Southern Division of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). History The team was founded in November 2000 as Shaanxi Gaitianli Kylins by the Xi'an Dongsheng Group. In August 2001, they won the "B" league championship, and were promoted to the CBA. In the 2004–05 season, the Shaanxi Kylins finished in fifth place in the North Division, and were out of the playoffs. In 2005–06, they finished sixth, and were once again out of the playoffs. The Shanghai Sharks () are a Chinese Basketball Association team based in Shanghai. It is best known outside China as the club that developed Yao Ming before he entered the National Basketball Association. With Yao on the team, the Sharks made the finals for three seasons in a row (in 1999–2000, 2000–01, and 2001–02), facing the Bayi Rockets each time. They were runners-up the first two years, but won the CBA championship for the first time on their third try, snapping a string of six Bayi Rockets championships in a row. Shandong Hi-Speed Kirin () is a Chinese professional basketball team based in Jinan, Shandong, which plays in the Northern Division of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). The Liaoning Flying Leopards (), also known as the Liaoning Shenyang Sansheng Flying Leopard Club or Liaoning Bengang (simplified Chinese: 辽宁本钢), are a Chinese professional basketball team based in Hunnan District, Shenyang, Liaoning, which plays in the Northern Division of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). The Zhejiang Golden Bulls, or Zhejiang Chouzhou Golden Rent are a Chinese professional basketball team based in Yiwu in Zhejiang, China.
