Barnsley () is a market town in South Yorkshire, England. It is the main settlement of the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley and the fourth largest settlement in South Yorkshire. Jason Shackell
Jason Philip Shackell (born 27 September 1983) is an English former professional footballer who primarily played as a centre-back, notably for Norwich City and Derby County. Born in Stevenage, he joined Norwich City in 2000. He made his senior debut in 2003 and spent seven seasons with Norwich before moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2008. After loan spells with Norwich City and Doncaster Rovers, he moved to Barnsley where he won the Player of the Season award in his only year there. He also spent one year at Derby County before signing with Burnley in 2012. Jacob Butterfield
Jacob Luke Butterfield (born 10 June 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for National League club Gateshead. Butterfield came through the youth academy at Barnsley and went on to establish himself as a first team player over a five-year spell between 2007 and 2012. He moved to Premier League side Norwich City but failed to make a league appearance and spent time on loan with Bolton Wanderers and Crystal Palace before signing permanently for Middlesbrough. Jacob Alexander Mellis (born 8 January 1991) is an English former professional footballer. He transferred from Sheffield United to Chelsea at the age of 16 for a £1 million fee, but made only one substitute appearance before being dismissed for misconduct in March 2012. Liam Michael Dickinson (born 4 October 1985) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. Dickinson began his senior career in non-league football with Irlam. David Douglas Preece (born 26 August 1976) is an English football journalist and commentator and a former professional player and coach who played as a goalkeeper. He made the majority of his appearances for Darlington, Aberdeen and the Danish club Silkeborg. His final professional appearance came on 2 November 2013 for Lincoln City against Welling United. Martin Thomas Devaney (born 1 June 1980) is a football coach and former professional midfielder who is assistant head coach of EFL League One Barnsley. Born in England of Irish parents, Devaney has played for the Republic Ireland at youth level.
