All American Hockey League (2008–2011)
The All American Hockey League (AAHL) was a lower level professional ice hockey league with teams in the Midwestern United States. The league suspended operations for the 2011–12 season and subsequently folded. League history Inaugural season (2008–09) The All American Hockey League was formed in 2008 as the All American Hockey Association when the Battle Creek Revolution and South Shore Shooters (later the Chi-Town Shooters) of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League banded together with the Evansville IceMen and Motor City Gamblers (later the Detroit Dragons) of the Midwest Hockey League. The Detroit Dragons folded mid-season, with the Chicago Blaze joining weeks later to fill the void. (The Blaze were originally going to be an expansion franchise for the 2009–10 season.) Battle Creek Revolution
The Battle Creek Revolution was a professional ice hockey team which played in the All American Hockey League. The team played its home games at Revolution Arena in Battle Creek, Michigan. The team was initially announced to play in the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League for the 2008–09 season before the league folded in August 2008. Lapeer Loggers
The Lapeer Loggers were a professional ice hockey team based in Lapeer, Michigan. The Loggers played the 2010–11 season as a member of the All American Hockey League and played their home games at Polar Palace Arena in Lapeer, MI. Team history The Loggers were approved for membership in the AAHL in August 2010. On January 3, the AAHL took over the operations of the Lapeer Loggers and very soon thereafter, due to league wide difficulties, both the Queen City Storm and the Troy Bruins folded. The AAHL assimilated players from Lapeer, Queen City, and Troy, into the newly christened Michigan Moose. After just a few games, the AAHL called an early end to the regular season and played the AAHL's final playoffs (won by the Battle Creek Revolution) before disbanding the league. Troy Bruins (2009–2010)
The Troy Bruins were a professional ice hockey team which played in the All American Hockey League. The team played their home games at Hobart Arena in downtown Troy, Ohio. History The organization was formed in 2009 as an expansion franchise in the Northern Junior Hockey League for the 2009–10 season. On May 21, 2009, the team was officially announced as the Troy Bruins. While not being affiliated with the original Troy Bruins from the International Hockey League of the 1950s, the Bruins pay homage to the Miami Valley's first hockey team and the area's rich hockey history. The organization would leave the NJHL after one season and pursued creating a minor league professional team instead. On August 31, 2010, the team was officially announced as an expansion team in All American Hockey League. Indiana Blizzard
The Indiana Blizzard was a professional ice hockey team based in Dyer, Indiana. The team was a member of the All American Hockey League and began its inaugural season in October 2009 as the Detroit Hitmen. The Blizzard played their home games at the Midwest Training & Ice Center Arena. History The West Michigan Blizzard started their inaugural season in October 2009 as the Detroit Hitmen, located in Fraser, Michigan. Due to the financial issues, the team was relocated to Norton Shores, Michigan on December 17, 2009. Matt Wiedenhoeft was the founding partner of the Hitmen, who orchestrated the relocation to the Muskegon, Michigan's L.C. Walker Arena. Their name was changed to the West Michigan Blizzard. Chi-Town Shooters
The Chi-Town Shooters were a professional ice hockey team that played in the All American Hockey League. The team played its home games at the Midwest Training & Ice Center in Dyer, Indiana. The "Shooters" name refers to the casinos in the South Shore region of northwestern Indiana. History On April 5, 2009, the Shooters won their first and only Rod Davidson Cup, beating the Battle Creek Revolution in the final deciding game of a best-of-five series. The team did not return to the AAHL looking to focus on launching a junior ice hockey team instead.. However, the West Michigan Blizzard relocated to the arena as the Indiana Blizzard before the 2010–11 season.
