2010 San Francisco 49ers Season
The 2010 San Francisco 49ers season was the franchise's 65th season, their 61st in the National Football League, and the third year with Mike Singletary as the head coach. The 49ers were looking to build upon their 8–8 season in 2009. The 49ers were expected by many to win the NFC West for the first time since 2002. However, the 49ers began the season with an 0–5 start and would end up with a losing record of 6–10 as they failed to reach the playoffs for the eighth consecutive season. The 49ers originally retained Jimmy Raye as the offensive coordinator, marking the first time since Greg Knapp in 2003 that the 49ers had the same offensive coordinator for more than one season. However, after starting the season with three straight losses, the 49ers fired Raye and promoted Quarterbacks coach Mike Johnson to offensive coordinator. NFC West
The National Football Conference - Western Division or NFC West is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). It currently has four members: the Arizona Cardinals, the Los Angeles Rams, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Seattle Seahawks. The division was formed in 1967 as the National Football League Coastal Division, keeping with the theme of having all of the league's divisions starting with the letter "C." The division was so named because its teams were fairly close to the coasts of the United States, although they were on opposite coasts, making for long travel between division rivals. Cornerback
A cornerback (CB) is a member of the defensive backfield or secondary in gridiron football. Cornerbacks cover receivers most of the time, but also blitz and defend against such offensive running plays as sweeps and reverses. 2010 Pittsburgh Steelers Season
The 2010 Pittsburgh Steelers season was the team's 78th season as a professional sports franchise and as a member of the National Football League (NFL), the eleventh season under the leadership of general manager Kevin Colbert, and the fourth under head coach Mike Tomlin. They reached Super Bowl XLV for the franchise's 8th Super Bowl appearance, but lost to the Green Bay Packers 31–25. Arnaz Battle
Arnaz Jerome Battle (born February 22, 1980) is a former American football wide receiver. He was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played college football at Notre Dame. Battle also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is the son of former NFL tight end Ron Battle. David Baas
David Andrew Baas (born September 28, 1981) is a former American football center. He played college football for the University of Michigan, and was recognized as a consensus All-American and the top college center. The San Francisco 49ers selected him in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft, and he was a member of the New York Giants' Super Bowl XLVI championship team against the New England Patriots. Early years Baas was born in Bixby, Oklahoma. He attended Riverview High School in Sarasota, Florida, and was a letterman in high school football and track and field for the Riverview Rams. In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Shane Andrus (born October 2, 1980) is a former American football placekicker. He was signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2006. Placekicker
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Mike Solari
Mike Solari (born January 16, 1955) is an American football coach and former player. Solari has previously worked for five other National Football League (NFL) teams, including a stint as offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs from 2006 to 2007. He played collegiately as an offensive lineman at San Diego State University.
