2010 New Mexico Bowl
The 2010 New Mexico Bowl was a post-season American college football bowl game, held on December 18, 2010, at University Stadium on the campus of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was one of the 2010–11 NCAA football bowl games concluding the 2010 season. The organizers introduced a new logo to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the game on September 29, 2010. The game, which was telecast at noon MST on ESPN, featured the UTEP Miners from Conference USA and the BYU Cougars from the Mountain West Conference. Both were former members of the Western Athletic Conference where the Cougars dominated the series with a 28–7–1 record. BYU, making its 29th bowl appearance, came into the game winning five out of seven games after a 1–4 start. UTEP, in just its 13th bowl, had dropped six of seven after opening the season 5–1. Mountain West Conference
The Mountain West Conference (MW) is one of the collegiate athletic conferences affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) (formerly I-A). The MW officially began operations on January 4, 1999. Geographically, the MW covers a broad expanse of the Western United States, with member schools located in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Craig Thompson has served as Commissioner of the MW since October 15, 1998; Gloria Nevarez will take over the post on January 1, 2023 after Thompson's retirement. New Mexico Bowl
The New Mexico Bowl is an NCAA-sanctioned post-season college football bowl game that has been played annually since 2006 at University Stadium, on the campus of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Owned and operated by ESPN Events, it has typically been scheduled as one of the first games of the bowl season. The bowl has tie-ins with Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference. Sun Bowl
The Sun Bowl is a college football bowl game that has been played since 1935 in the southwestern United States at El Paso, Texas. Along with the Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl, it is the second-oldest bowl game in the country, behind the Rose Bowl. Usually held near the end of December, games are played at the Sun Bowl stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at El Paso. Trevor Vittatoe (born January 1, 1988) is a former American football quarterback. Until June 21, 2012, he was on the roster of the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). He was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He played college football at Texas-El Paso. Vittatoe began his football career with Euless Trinity. College career Vittatoe attended the University of Texas-El Paso and played quarterback for four years. He left the Miners as their all-time leader in passing yards, passing touchdowns, total offense and touchdowns. He also broke numerous other records. Western Athletic Conference
The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) is an NCAA Division I conference. The WAC covers a broad expanse of the western United States with member institutions located in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Utah, Washington (state), Washington, and Texas. 2010 BYU Cougars Football Team
The 2010 BYU Cougars football team represented Brigham Young University in the 2010 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Cougars, led by head coach Bronco Mendenhall, played their home games at LaVell Edwards Stadium and were members of the Mountain West Conference. The 2010 UTEP Miners football team represented the University of Texas at El Paso in the 2010 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team's head coach was Mike Price, who served his seventh season at the post. The Miners played their home games at the Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas and were members of Conference USA in the West Division. The Miners finished the regular season 6–6, 3–5 in C-USA play, and were invited to the New Mexico Bowl versus BYU.
