2010 Men's World Floorball Championships
The 2010 Men's World Floorball Championships were the eighth men's Floorball World Championships. The tournament was held from 4 December to 11 December 2010 in the cities of Helsinki, and Vantaa, Finland. This was the first world championships under the International Floorball Federation's (IFF) FIFA-like continental qualification system. A total of 32 countries had registered for this event, which is the most nations to ever register for an IFF-sanctioned world championship event. The previous record was 29 for the 2008 Men's World Floorball Championships. Qualifying Under the IFF's new qualification system, the 32 countries registered for the world championships had to qualify for only 16 spots. 8 of these spots had already been pre-determined, with the top 7 teams from the 2008 Men's World Floorball Championships A-Division and the top team from the B-Division automatically qualifying. Matthias Hofbauer
Matthias Hofbauer (born 22 May 1981) is a Switzerland, Swiss professional floorball floorball#Gameplay, forward currently playing for the SV Wiler-Ersigen of the Nationalliga A (NLA). His younger brother Christoph Hofbauer, Christoph is floorball player. International play Hofbauer has represented his country 45 times. He played his first game for the national team in 2000. At the 2004 Men's World Floorball Championships, 2004 World Championships, where Switzerland men's national floorball team, Switzerland loss in the bronze medal game, Hofbauer was named best forward and a member of the all-star team; he was the tournament's leading scorer. Energia Areena
Energia Areena is a multifunctional indoor arena in the Myyrmäki Sports Park, located in the Myyrmäki district of Vantaa, Finland. The arena gets its name from its largest sponsor, the energy company Vantaan Energia. Events The venue is able to be modified to accommodate corporate, cultural, and concert events, among others, but is best known for its athletic uses. Energia Areena is equipped to host floorball, badminton, volleyball, basketball, handball and futsal practices and games, in addition to gymnastics and cheerleading competitions. Energia Areena has served as home to the Finnish men's and women's national basketball teams since 2007. It is also home to the EräViikingit men's floorball team, which plays in the F-liiga. Hartwall Areena
Helsinki Halli (formerly Hartwall Arena) is a large multi-functional indoor arena located in Helsinki, Finland. It was opened in April 1997. The arena is convertible for various events. The total seated capacity during ice hockey games is 13,349 (about 14,000 for basketball, for concerts up to 15,000) and as an amphitheatre, it is significantly reduced to between 3,000 to 5,000. The Russian-owned arena has been unused since March 2022 due to EU sanctions related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The main sponsor, Hartwall, also ended its sponsorship and the arena's name was changed. Construction and facilities The initiative for building the arena came from Harry "Hjallis" Harkimo in 1994.
