2010 Kansas City Wizards Season
The 2010 Kansas City Wizards season was the club's 15th season since its establishment in 1995. The club participated in the MLS for the 15th time, and in the U.S. Open Cup for the 14th time. Local television broadcast rights were held by KCWE in the first year of a four year deal. Every home and away match for the league season was available on local over-the-air high definition. On January 20, the club broke ground on their future stadium. Review Preseason The club decided to travel to Arizona for preseason training after opening camp in cold Kansas City. As promised by the front office in the off-season, the club brought in a large number of trialist and draft picks to fight for the limited squad positions. Kansas City Wizards
Sporting Kansas City, often shortened to Sporting KC, is an American men's professional soccer club based in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The administrative offices are located in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri, and the team clubhouse and practice facilities are located in Kansas City, Kansas, near Children's Mercy Park. The club competes as a member of the Western Conference in Major League Soccer (MLS), having returned in 2015 after spending ten seasons in the Eastern Conference. Sporting KC began play in 1996 as a charter team in the league, then known as the Kansas City Wiz. The team was founded by Lamar Hunt in 1995. Jimmy Nielsen
Jimmy Nielsen (born 6 August 1977) is a Danish-American retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Until June 2007, he played 398 games for Danish team AaB Fodbold. Playing every league match for AaB since 1997, Nielsen won the 1999 Danish Superliga championship with AaB. Nielsen has on occasion featured in the Danish national team setup as an unused substitute. He won the 1998 and 2004 Danish Goalkeeper of the Year award. Club career Europe Nielsen began his career with Norwich City at the age of 12. Chance Myers
Chance Russell Myers (born December 7, 1987, in Thousand Oaks, California) is an American former association football, soccer player. Career College and amateur Myers attended Thousand Oaks High School, and played college soccer at UCLA from 2006 to 2007. Over two years he started in 26 of his 42 appearances and managed 4 goals and 4 assists. During his college years he also played in the USL Premier Development League with Ventura County Fusion. Professional Leaving school early, Myers was drafted with the first overall pick of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by Kansas City Wizards and signed for $130,000. He made his MLS debut on April 9, 2008, against the New England Revolution, but struggled to maintain a consistent place in the starting lineup due to a series of injuries and a new diagnosis of asthma. Birahim Diop
Birahim Diop (born February 7, 1979 in Thiès) is a Senegalese footballer. Club career Diop began his career in Senegal with US Rail de Thiès. In one year at the club he appeared in 25 matches scoring 15 goals. He then moved to ASC Jeanne d'Arc and scored 12 goals and added 7 assists in his one year at the club. In 2001 Diop moved to the United States and joined the MetroStars reserve squad, after impressing coach Octavio Zambrano he moved up to the senior squad appearing in 4 league matches in 2002. Jack Jewsbury
Jack Jewsbury (born April 13, 1981) is a retired American soccer player who played primarily as a midfielder. Upon his retirement in 2016, Jewsbury was one of ten players to have appeared in more than 350 matches in Major League Soccer. Career Youth and college Jewsbury was born in Joplin, Missouri. He attended Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Missouri, where he scored a state record 59 goals in his senior season and 124 goals in his four-year high school career. Jaime Moreno Morales (born 19 January 1974) is a Bolivian former professional footballer now serving as Youth Academy Technical Training Coach for D.C. United in Major League Soccer, and as the head coach of D.C. United's U-23 side. Moreno began his career at Club Blooming and then played for Colombia's Independiente Santa Fe before spending two seasons at the English club Middlesbrough. The rest of his career was spent at D.C. Davy Arnaud (; born June 22, 1980) is an American soccer coach and former player. During his professional career, he played for Sporting Kansas City, Montreal Impact, and D.C. United, and served on the coaching staff of D.C. United and Houston Dynamo. Arnaud also made seven appearances for the United States national team, scoring one goal. Troy Perkins (born July 29, 1981) is an American former soccer player. During his career, he played for clubs in the United States, Canada, and Norway. The 2006 Major League Soccer Goalkeeper of the Year award winner earned seven caps with the United States national team. The 2011 MLS SuperDraft was the twelfth annual SuperDraft presented by Major League Soccer. It was held on January 13, 2011 in Baltimore, Maryland, during the 2011 NSCAA Convention at the Baltimore Convention Center.
