2010 Houston Dynamo Season
The 2010 Houston Dynamo season was the fifth season of the team's existence since joining Major League Soccer (MLS) prior to the 2006 season. It was the team's fifth season with head coach Dominic Kinnear, majority owner Philip Anschultz, and chief operating officer Chris Canetti. On June 10, team president Oliver Luck left the Dynamo to become athletic director for his alma mater, West Virginia University. This Dynamo failed to qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time in franchise history during the 2010 season, finishing 7th in the Western Conference, 1 place and 13 points below the final playoff spot. In the U.S. Open Cup, Houston reached the quarterfinals, where they lost 3–1 to Chivas USA. The Dynamo finished top of their group in the North American SuperLiga, before losing 1–0 to Monarcas Morelia in the semifinals. Houston Dynamo
Houston Dynamo FC (formerly officially, but still commonly, called the Houston Dynamo) is an American professional soccer club based in Houston. The Dynamo compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference. Established on December 15, 2005, the club was founded after their former owners relocated the San Jose Earthquakes' players and staff to Houston following the 2005 season. For their first six seasons in Houston, the Dynamo were based at Robertson Stadium on the campus of the University of Houston. During the 2012 season, the club moved to PNC Stadium, a soccer-specific stadium in East Downtown Houston. The club is majority owned by Ted Segal, who fully controls ownership after buying out his remaining minority partners in August 2022. San Jose Earthquakes
The San Jose Earthquakes are an American professional soccer team based in San Jose, California. The Earthquakes compete as a member club of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). Originally as the San Jose Clash, the franchise began play in 1996 as one of the charter members of the league. The Earthquakes took part in the first game in MLS history, defeating D.C. United 1–0. The Earthquakes have won two MLS Cup titles (2001, 2003) and two Supporters' Shields (2005, 2012). Pat Onstad
Patrick Stewart Onstad (born January 13, 1968) is a Canadian former professional soccer goalkeeper who serves as the General Manager of the Houston Dynamo. During his career, Onstad played with a variety of clubs in Canada and the United States and was a three-time winner of MLS Cup. He was inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame in November 2015. Youth and college Onstad began playing organized soccer with the West Point Grey, Marpole United, and Coquitlam Metro-Ford youth soccer clubs. He then went on to tend goal at the University of British Columbia, who he led to three CIAU National Championships. He was also a two-time Academic All-Canadian, and holds degrees in Human Kinetics and Education. Club career After graduating, Onstad joined the Vancouver 86ers of the Canadian Soccer League in 1987. Tally Hall (soccer)
Talmon Henry "Tally" Hall V (born May 12, 1985) is an American retired soccer goalkeeper who spent eight of his ten professional seasons in Major League Soccer (MLS) with the Houston Dynamo ( 2009–2014), Orlando City ( 2015) and D.C. United (2016). He was a starter from 2011 to 2015 and helped the Dynamo reach MLS Cup in both 2011 and 2012. He was an MLS All-Star in 2011 and 2013. Since 2017, Hall has worked as a police officer for the Orlando Police Department. College Born in SeaTac, Washington, Hall attended Gig Harbor High School. While searching for a college, Hall wanted to go to a Division 1 program in a warm climate with a full time goalkeeper coach. 2010 MLS All-Star Game
The 2010 Major League Soccer All-Star Game, held on July 28, 2010, was the 15th annual Major League Soccer All-Star Game, a soccer match involving all-stars from Major League Soccer. The MLS All-Stars faced Manchester United of the English Premier League in the seventh All-Star Game that featured the league's best players facing international competition. The match was broadcast in the US on ESPN2 in English and Galavision in Spanish. Manchester United thrashed the MLS All-Stars 5–2 to become the first international club to defeat the All-Stars in regulation time (fellow Premier League side Everton won the 2009 All-Star Game on penalties). North American SuperLiga
The SuperLiga was an official North American association football competition between teams from the Liga MX of Mexico and Major League Soccer of the United States and Canada, the top divisions in each country. The competition was sanctioned by CONCACAF, U.S. Soccer, the Canadian Soccer Association and Federación Mexicana de Fútbol and served as the sub-regional championship for the North American section of CONCACAF, much like its Central American and Caribbean counterparts, the Copa Interclubes UNCAF and CFU Club Championship respectively.
