2010 FC Dallas Season
The 2010 FC Dallas season was the fifteenth season of the team's existence. Dallas' season was highlighted by qualifying for the first MLS Cup Championship Game in franchise history, where they ultimately came up short, losing to the Colorado Rapids in overtime, from an own goal by George John who inadvertently deflected a ball into his own net. In spite of the MLS Cup shortcomings, Dallas earned a preliminary spot in the 2011–12 edition of the CONCACAF Champions League, for next year. During the regular season, the club set a team record for longest home unbeaten streak, with six matches. Additionally, during this unbeaten streak from May to October, Dallas set an MLS record for longest road unbeaten streak (11 matches) and overall unbeaten streak (15) before eventually losing to Real Salt Lake towards the end of the season. FC Dallas
FC Dallas is an American professional Association football, soccer club based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The club competes as a member of the Western Conference (MLS), Western Conference in Major League Soccer (MLS). The franchise began play in 1996 as a charter club of the league. The club was founded in 1995 as the Dallas Burn before adopting its current name in 2004. George John (soccer)
George John (born March 20, 1987) is a former American soccer player. Youth and college soccer John was born and raised in Shoreline, Washington. George played youth soccer for Emerald City FC in Seattle. He was later the team captain of his youth club leading the Crossfire Premier to an U-18 Premier I Division Championship and a U-18 Washington State Championship. In 2011, John was inducted into the inaugural class of the Crossfire Premier Hall of Fame, along with fellow professional soccer players Ellis McLoughlin and Preston Zimmerman. John also played soccer for Shorewood High School where he was team captain and a 2004 NSCAA High School Adidas All-American honoree. John's jersey (#11) was retired by the school during a ceremony in 2011. John played college soccer at the University of Washington, leading the Huskies to back-to-back trips to the second round of the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament in 2006 and 2007. Away Goals Rule
The away goals rule is a method of tiebreaker, tiebreaking in association football and other sports when teams play each other twice, once at each team's home ground. Under the away goals rule, if the total goals scored by each team are equal, the team that has scored more goals "Road (sports), away from home" wins. MLS Supporters' Shield
The Supporters' Shield is an annual award given to the Major League Soccer team with the best regular season record, as determined by the MLS points system. The Supporters' Shield has been annually awarded at the MLS Supporters' Summit since 1999 (with the winners between 1996 and 1998 awarded retroactively), and has been recognized as a major trophy by the league. It echoes the practice of the top European leagues in which the team with the best record is the champion. LA Galaxy, also known as the Los Angeles Galaxy, are an American professional soccer club based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Gillette Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is southwest of downtown Boston. It serves as the home stadium and administrative offices for both the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL) and the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer (MLS). It opened in 2002, replacing the adjacent Foxboro Stadium. The 2007 Major League Soccer season was the 12th season in the history of Major League Soccer. The season began on April 7 and concluded with MLS Cup 2007 on November 18, 2007 at Robert F. 2010 MLS Cup Playoffs
The 2010 MLS Cup Playoffs was the postseason tournament subsequent to Major League Soccer's 2010 season. The playoffs began on October 30, with the Los Angeles Galaxy defeating the Seattle Sounders FC in the quarterfinal-round. Three weeks later, the Colorado Rapids defeated FC Dallas 2-1 in the Cup final at BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario. It was Colorado's first title and second MLS Cup final appearance, and it was FC Dallas's first appearance in an MLS Cup final. MLS MVP
The Landon Donovan MVP Award is an annual award for MLS players. It is voted on by media, MLS players, and club management and is given to the player deemed the most valuable player in the league each season. From 1996 to 2007, the award was known as the Honda MLS Most Valuable Player, for commercial purposes. From 2007 to 2014, the award was titled the Volkswagen MLS Most Valuable Player. Players for D.C. United have won the award a record four times, while Kansas City and Los Angeles Galaxy players have won a second best three times. David Arturo Ferreira Rico (born August 9, 1979) is a Colombian former footballer. Career Professional Ferreira began his professional career in 1997 with the Colombian Primera B club Expresso Rojo. By 1999 he had joined Real Cartagena, helping them win a league title.
