2010 European Men's Handball Championship
The 2010 EHF European Men's Handball Championship (9th tournament) was held in Austria from 19 to 31 January, in the cities of Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck, Linz and Wiener Neustadt. Bidding process The two bids were as follows: * Austria * Greece Outside of the two bids, the following bids were withdrawn: * Germany * Iceland * Croatia * Macedonia * Hungary On the 5 May 2006, in Vilamoura, Portugal, Austria was given the hosting rights for the first time ever. They were the first country since 1998 to host the tournament despite never qualifying on merit. Venues 5 Austrian cities have been selected to host the 2010 Championship. The venues in Linz, Graz and Wiener Neustadt were only used during the preliminary round. The fourth venue to be used in this round was located in Innsbruck, and was also one of the two venues in the main round. Filip Jícha
Filip Jícha (born 19 April 1982) is a former Czech handballer. He most recently played for Spanish handball team FC Barcelona Handbol, FC Barcelona. He also played for the Czech Republic men's national handball team, Czech national team. Currently he is the head coach of his former club, German handball team THW Kiel. His biggest success as a coach has been winning the EHF Champions League with THW Kiel in the 2019-2020 season. He was included in the European Handball Federation Hall of Fame in 2023. The 1998 European Men's Handball Championship was the third edition of the tournament and held in Italy from 29 May to 7 June 1998, in the cities of Meran and Bolzano. Sweden men's national handball team, Sweden won the tournament after defeating Spain men's national handball team, Spain in the final, while Germany men's national handball team, Germany finished third. The Olympiahalle ''(English: Olympic Hall)'' is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Munich, Germany. It is part of Olympiapark and is used for concerts, sporting events, exhibitions and trade fairs. The official seating capacity varies from some 12,500 to 15,500 depending on the event. History Olympiahalle opened in 1972 and was the venue for gymnastics and handball events at the 1972 Summer Olympics. In the past, it served as a part-time home for the defunct ice hockey team EC Hedos München. The current seating capacity of 15,500 was set after a massive overhaul was completed in 2009. Stadthalle Graz (also known as Graz Messe Arena) is a multi-functional event hall located in Jakomini, a district of Graz, in Austria. Opened in October 2002, the hall is connected to and part of the municipal's fair building complex, Messe Congress Graz. The facility, the largest in Graz, is used to organize various events, including congresses, TV shows, concerts and sport. Olympiahalle is an multi-purpose indoor sports venue located in Innsbruck, Austria. The arena is located in the south of the city, close to the Tivoli Stadion Tirol; both of which are part of the multi-functional sports complex OlympiaWorld Innsbruck. The arena, designed by architect Hans Buchrainer, was opened in November 1963 and underwent a further renovation between 2001 and 2004.
