2010 Big 12 Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2010 Big 12 Conference women's basketball tournament was the 2010 edition of the Big 12 Conference's championship tournament. It was held at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City from March 11 through 14, 2010. Texas A&M, as the tournament champion, received an automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament. Nebraska finished the 2009-10 regular season undefeated, but lost in the semifinals to eventual tournament champion Texas A&M. Nebraska was the one seed in the tournament and received a first round bye, along with the other top four seeds. The tournament ran simultaneously with the 2010 Big 12 men's basketball tournament. Municipal Auditorium (Kansas City, Missouri)
Municipal Auditorium is a multi-purpose facility located in Kansas City, Missouri. It opened in 1935 and features Streamline Moderne and Art Deco architecture and architectural details. Background Municipal Auditorium was the first building built as part of the "Ten-Year Plan", a bond program that passed by a 4 to 1 margin in 1931. The campaign was run by the Civic Improvement Committee chaired by Conrad H. Mann. Other buildings in the plan included the Kansas City City Hall and the Kansas City branch of the Jackson County Courthouse. The plan was championed by most local politicians including Thomas Pendergast and provided Pendergast with many patronage opportunities during the Great Depression. Municipal Auditorium replaced Convention Hall which was directly across the street and was torn down for parking to create what is now called the Barney Allis Plaza. The 2010 Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Championship was the 2010 edition of the Big 12 Conference's championship tournament held at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri from March 10 until March 13, 2010. It was won by top-seeded Kansas. Andrea Riley (born July 22, 1988) is an American professional basketball player, most recently with the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was drafted 8th overall in the 2010 WNBA draft by the Sparks. Riley played collegiately for the Oklahoma State Cowgirls.
