2010 BMC Racing Team Season
The 2010 season for the BMC Racing Team began in January with the Tour Down Under and ended in October at the Giro di Lombardia. As they did in 2009, competes in 2010 as a UCI Professional Continental team with wildcard status, meaning they are eligible to be invited to any UCI ProTour event. After three seasons as a United States-based Pro Continental team with a limited presence elsewhere in the world, BMC made numerous high-profile acquisitions in the 2009 offseason, including the last two world cycling champions in Alessandro Ballan and Cadel Evans. The team also added six other riders who were members of ProTour teams in 2009 including 2009 U.S. Road Race Champion George Hincapie. Scott Nydam
Scott Nydam (born April 9, 1977 in Denver, Colorado, United States) is an American former professional cyclist. He won the mountains classification at the 2008 Tour of California. He is married to Jennifer Nydam. Career Nydam raced for the BMC Racing Team in 2006, its first year, prior to it becoming a professional team in 2007. He continued to race for the team through 2009. However, in 2009 he suffered a concussion during the Tour of the Gila. As his fifth major concussion, this ultimately spelled the end of his professional cycling career. Karsten Kroon
Karsten Kroon (born 29 January 1976) is a Dutch former professional road bicycle racer who most recently rode for , a UCI ProTeam. He retired at the end of the 2014 season. Career Born in Dalen, Kroon showed his talent as an amateur by winning the professional Ronde van Drenthe in 1996. He joined the youth squad in 1997 and won a number of amateur races in two years. Thomas Frei (born 19 January 1985) is a Swiss road bicycle racer. Frei was Swiss Junior champion in road cycling in 2002. Between 2004 and 2006 he cycled for the Bürgis Cycling Team and won the Mountain Championship for U23 cyclists. In the 2007 and 2008 seasons, Frei rode for UCI ProTour team before moving to for 2009 on a two-year contract. There he was roommate and domestique for future Tour de France champion Cadel Evans. In his second season with BMC, Frei tested positive for EPO. He was withdrawn from competition by his team in April 2010 during the Giro del Trentino when the doping violation was revealed, before the team released him altogether.
