2010 Alabama Crimson Tide Softball Season
The 2010 Alabama Crimson Tide softball team was an American softball team, representing the University of Alabama for the 2010 NCAA softball season. The Crimson Tide played its home games at the Alabama Softball Complex. The 2010 club made the postseason for the 12th straight year. Previous season The 2009 Crimson Tide went 52-9 overall and 21-6 in SEC play. They were named the #4 overall seed in the NCAA tournament, advanced to the semifinals of the Women's College World Series. Three Tide players were named All-Americans (center fielder Brittany Rogers, pitcher/firstbaseman Charlotte Morgan and pitcher Kelsi Dunne). Pre-season The Tide returns 13 letterwinners from a team that equaled its longest stay at the Women's College World Series in program history last season. Patrick Murphy (softball)
Patrick Stacy Murphy (born November 28, 1965) is an American softball coach and the current head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide softball team. He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame on May 7, 2022the first softball coach to be so honored. Early life and education Murphy was born in Waterloo, Iowa, and raised in nearby Fayette. Murphy graduated from Fayette High School and completed his B.S. in history education at the University of Northern Iowa in 1988. Coaching career Early coaching career While attending Northern Iowa, Murphy coached Little League baseball. After graduating from college, Murphy became varsity baseball coach at Sumner High School in Sumner, Iowa, leading the team to a 22–3 record in his first season of 1989 and the state championship game in 1990. 2010 Florida Gators Softball Season
The 2010 Florida Gators softball team represented the University of Florida softball program for the 2010 NCAA softball season. Previous season The 2009 Gators went 63-5 overall and 26-1 in SEC play. They were named the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament for the second straight year, advanced to the championship series of the Women's College World Series. They also were the SEC regular season and tournament champions. South Carolina Gamecocks
The South Carolina Gamecocks represent the University of South Carolina in the NCAA Division I. The University of South Carolina uses "Gamecocks" as its official nickname and mascot. While the men's teams were traditionally known as the Fighting Gamecocks and the women's teams were previously known as the Lady Gamecocks, this distinction was discontinued in part to eliminate any gender bias in the athletic department and in part to counter misconceptions about the gamecock mascot endorsing bloodsport. The Kentucky Wildcats are the men's and women's intercollegiate athletic squads of the University of Kentucky (UK), a founding member of the Southeastern Conference. The Liberty Flames and Lady Flames are the athletics teams of Liberty University, in Lynchburg, Virginia, United States. They are a member of the NCAA Division I level in 20 sports. The UCF Knights are the sport, athletic teams that represent the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. The Knights participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) NCAA Division I, Division I (NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, FBS for football) as a member of the American Athletic Conference.
