2009–10 Uruguayan Primera División Season
The 2009–10 Liga Profesional de Primera División season, also known as the 2009–10 Copa Uruguaya or the 2009–10 Campeonato Uruguayo, was the 106th season of Uruguay's top-flight football league, and the 79th in which it was professional. The season was named in honor of Héctor del Campo, ex-president of Danubio. Format The season was divided into two tournaments: the Apertura and the Clausura. In each tournament, the teams played against each other in a single round-robin format. Whoever plays at home against an opponent in the Apertura played the same opponent as a visitor in the Clausura. The champion of the Copa Uruguaya could have been decided in three ways: #If the same team won both the Apertura and the Clausura. #If two different teams won the Apertura and the Clausura and one of those teams had the most points in the aggregate table, a single playoff match would have been contested between the two clubs. 2010–11 Uruguayan Primera División Season
The 2010–11 Liga Profesional de Primera División season, also known as the 2010–11 Copa Uruguaya or the 2010–11 Campeonato Uruguayo, was the 107th season of Uruguay's top-flight football league, and the 80th in which it was professional. Nacional won their 43rd Primera División title after defeating Defensor Sporting in the season-ending final. Teams Sixteen teams will compete in the Primera División this season. Thirteen teams remained from the 2009–10 season. Atenas, Cerrito, and Cerro Largo were relegated after accumulating the fewest points in the season aggregate table. They were replaced by El Tanque Sisley, Bella Vista, and Miramar Misiones, the 2009–10 Segunda División winner, runner-up, and playoff winner, respectively. Rampla Juniors
Rampla Juniors Fútbol Club, commonly known as Rampla Juniors, is a Uruguayan football (soccer), football club based in Montevideo. The team was actively playing the 2021 season by January 2021. In their home stadium, Rampla won the Uruguayan championship in 1927. In 2019, the Rampla Juniors Fútbol Club had Estadio Olímpico (Montevideo), Estadio Olímpico, with 6,000 capacity, as its home stadium. Fans are nicknamed "The Flinstones," as they helped build the team's home stadium in the 1960s, which resembled a quarry. Club Nacional de Football (, ''National Football Club'' or simply as Nacional) is a Uruguayan professional sports club based in Montevideo. The club was founded on 14 May 1899 as a result of the merger between ''Uruguay Athletic Club'' and ''Montevideo Fútbol Club''. Central Español Fútbol Club, usually known simply as Central Español is a Uruguayan football club based in Montevideo. History The F.U.F era Together with Peñarol, Central founded FUF (Uruguayan football federation) in 1923 after being expelled from AUF. The FUF even made a parallel Uruguay national team (dissident to AUF) that played several international games based on Peñarol and Central squads. After 3 years of existence the new federation was dissolved and both teams returned to AUF. Merging Central append "Español" to its name after an agreement signed with a Spanish group in 1971. Centro Atlético Fénix is a Uruguayan sports club from Montevideo. The football team currently plays in Primera División. Fénix is one of the most popular and traditional teams of Uruguay's 2nd Division, along with Racing Club de Montevideo, which is its all-time rival. History The club was founded on 7 July 1916 by a group of young men who named the club "Fénix" (Phoenix) after the mythological bird. The club's colors are violet (chosen to represent eternity) and white (to represent purity). Club Atlético Juventud is a sports club from Las Piedras, Canelones in Uruguay. CA Juventud won promotion to the Primera División Uruguaya to start in August 2007. History The club was born from a group of youths from Las Piedras, Uruguay who played soccer at San Isidro Catholic school. On December 24, 1935 the boys arrived at school expecting to play (as always having arranged the match the day before), but when they got there the priests had forbidden it as they were preparing a big nativity crèche set on the field. Angry, the students, among them Carlos Maria Cabrera (who would later become the first president of the club) met in the town square and decided to found the club on Christmas Eve 1935, in rebellion against the priests. Segunda División Profesional is the second division of professional football in Uruguay, established in 1942. The league is sometimes referred to as ''Primera B''. Segunda División was first held in 1942 to replace amateur Divisional Intermedia, establishing a professional league for lower divisions in Uruguay. The most successful clubs are Fénix and Sud América with seven titles and the current champion is Albion.
