2009–10 McGill Martlets Women's Hockey Season
The McGill Martlets will represent McGill University in the 2009-10 Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's hockey season. The Martlets were not able to win their third Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's ice hockey championship. The Martlets head coach is Amey Doyle. The Alberta Pandas defeated the Martlets 2–0 in the CIS National Championship. Offseason * Amey Doyle has been appointed interim head coach of the McGill University women's hockey team. Doyle is a native of Smiths Falls, Ont., and replaces Peter Smith. Smith, has taken a one-year leave of absence to serve as an assistant coach with the Canadian women's Olympic team. Doyle's coaching staff includes Stewart McCarthey, and former McGill player Shauna Denis. Denis captained the Martlets to their first national crown in 2008. U Sports (stylized as U SPORTS) is the national sport governing body of university sport in Canada, comprising the majority of degree-granting universities in the country. Canadian Interuniversity Sport Women's Ice Hockey Championship
The Golden Path Trophy is a national collegiate sports award, presented annually to the women's ice hockey champions of U Sports, Canada's governing body for university sports. The trophy was donated by Katherine Cartwright in 1998, which is when the championship was first contested. Cartwright was the first head coach of the Queen's Gaels women's hockey program in 1971 and led the movement to reinstate women's hockey at the collegiate level in 1960, following a nine-year hiatus. Ann-Sophie Bettez (born October 14, 1987) is a Canadian ice hockey forward currently signed with the Montreal Force of the Premier Hockey Federation. Playing career CIS She was CIS rookie of the year in 2008 and voted league MVP in her second year. She won the 2009 QSSF scoring crown with 24 goals and 30 assists for 54 points in just 18 conference games. These numbers set league records in each category. She was seven points back of Alberta Pandas player Tarin Podloski (23–38–61) for the CIS national scoring title. The 2009-10 Montreal Carabins women's ice hockey season was their first season competing in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). Their 13-6-1 conference record ranked second during the QSSF regular season. Overall, the Carabins had a won loss record of 15 wins, nine losses, and one tie. The McGill Martlets ice hockey team represents McGill University, based in Montreal, Quebec in U Sports women's ice hockey. They are members of the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) and have won four U Sports women's ice hockey championships.
