2009–10 Connecticut Huskies Men's Basketball Team
The 2009–10 Connecticut Huskies men's basketball team represented the University of Connecticut in the 2009–2010 NCAA Division I basketball season. The Huskies were coached by Jim Calhoun and played their home games at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut, and on campus at the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut. The Huskies are a member of the Big East Conference. They finished the season 18–16, 7–11 in Big East play and lost in the first round of the 2010 Big East men's basketball tournament. They were invited to the 2010 National Invitation Tournament and advanced to the second round before losing to Virginia Tech. Big East Conference (1979–2013)
The Big East Conference was a collegiate athletics conference that consisted of as many as 16 universities in the eastern half of the United States from 1979 to 2013. The conference's members participated in 24 NCAA sports. The conference had a history of success at the national level in basketball throughout its history, while its shorter (1991 to 2013) football program, created by inviting one college and four other "associate members" (their football programs only) into the conference, resulted in two national championships. In basketball, Big East teams made 18 Final Four appearances and won 7 NCAA championships as Big East members through 2013 (UConn with three, Georgetown, Syracuse, Louisville and Villanova with one each). Craig Austrie
Craig Kevin Austrie (born March 14, 1987) is an American basketball player. He played in college for the University of Connecticut and played briefly for the Springfield Armor in the NBA Development League. High school career In his four years, Trinity Catholic went 103–6, captured three league titles, two state titles and was state runner-up twice. The Crusaders went 26–2 in his senior season (2005) as he averaged 22.5 points, 5.1 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 steals. 2009–10 Hofstra Pride Men's Basketball Team
The 2009–10 Hofstra Pride men's basketball team represented Hofstra University in the 2009–10 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Pride were led by head coach Tom Pecora in his ninth year leading the team. Hofstra played their home games at Mack Sports Complex in Hempstead, New York, as members of the Colonial Athletic Association. The Pride finished conference play with a 10–8 record, earning the seventh seed in the CAA tournament. Hofstra won its first-round game, but were defeated in the quarterfinals by Northeastern. Boston University failed to qualify for the NCAA tournament, but were invited to the 2010 College Basketball Invitational. The Pride were eliminated in the first round of the CBI by IUPUI, 74–60. Harry A. Gampel Pavilion is a 10,167-seat multi-purpose arena in Storrs, Connecticut, United States, on the campus of the University of Connecticut (UConn).
