The 2009 Women's Hockey Champions Challenge I is the fifth tournament of the field hockey championship for women. It was held from 11 to 18 October 2009 in Cape Town, South Africa. The tournament was won by New Zealand and promoted to the Champions Trophy in 2011. Carol Metchette is an Irish field hockey player and umpire from Dublin, Republic of Ireland. She retired from playing in 2002 and became an umpire until 2012 when she was forced to retire due to the International Hockey Federation (IHF) creating a mandatory retirement age for umpires. She is currently an IHF video referee. Playing career Metchette started playing hockey while at school at Wesley College where she won the ESB Kate Russell All Ireland Schools Championship, Leinster Schools League and Leinster Schoolgirls' Senior Cup. Mazuki Arai ( ja, 新井 麻月, born 28 November 1988) is a retired field hockey player from Japan. Career International hockey Mazuki Arai made her debut for Japan in 2009, at the FIH Champions Challenge in Cape Town. The team won a bronze medal at the tournament, with Arai scoring twice. The following month she appeared at the Asia Cup in Bangkok. In 2010, Arai won two medals with the national team. Her first was silver at the Asian Champions Trophy in Busan, followed by bronze at the Asian Games in Guangzhou. That year she also appeared at the FIH World Cup Qualifiers in Kazan, as well as the World Cup in Rosario.
