2009 WAFL Season
The 2009 WAFL season was the 125th season of the West Australian Football League in its various incarnations. Chad Jones
Chad Jonathon Jones (born 15 June 1984) is an Australian rules footballer currently listed with the Claremont Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL), having previously played for the and the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). From Perth, Western Australia, Jones made his debut for Claremont in 2003, and was recruited to the Kangaroos in the 2003 National Draft. Over three seasons at the club, he played six games, kicking a single goal, before being traded to West Coast prior to the 2007 season. At West Coast, Jones played seven games over two seasons before being delisted. Remaining with Claremont where he played as a key forward, Jones led the club's goalkicking in 2009 and 2010, also winning the Bernie Naylor Medal as the competition's leading goalkicker in both seasons. Albany, Western Australia
Albany ( ; nys, Kinjarling) is a port city in the Great Southern region in the Australian state of Western Australia, southeast of Perth, the state capital. The city centre is at the northern edge of Princess Royal Harbour, which is a part of King George Sound. Allistair Pickett
Allistair Pickett (born 4 August 1973) is an Australian rules footballer who played for Subiaco in the WAFL. Pickett won the 2002 and 2004 Sandover Medals. Playing career A small and pacy rover, Pickett started his career in the 1990s with West Perth, playing three WAFL matches, but couldn't make an impact due to injuries. In 2001 he tried again, joining Peel Thunder and the following season became the first ever player from the club to win a Sandover Medal. He won his second Sandover Medal in 2004 while at Subiaco where he also enjoyed team success with four premierships. In 2008 Pickett was named in Subiaco's official 'Team of the Century' as a forward pocket. In early 2009 Pickett had a stint at Nightcliff in the Northern Territory Football League. Brad Smith (footballer Born 1979)
Bradley Phillip Smith (born 11 May 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer, who played for in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) from 1998–2009. He was also listed with the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL) from 2005–06, but was not able to play a single game for the club due to two knee reconstructions. Early career Smith is the son of former Geelong and West Perth forward Phil Smith. He considered nominating for the 1997 AFL Draft, but other interests put his AFL career on hold. Chad Fletcher (born 30 August 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). He also played for the Subiaco Football Club and the Claremont Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). From Perth, Western Australia, Fletcher was recruited by West Coast in the 1998 Rookie Draft, and made his debut for the club in 1999. Tyson Stenglein (born 16 July 1980) is an Australian rules footballer, who played for the Adelaide Crows and the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). Subiaco Oval
Subiaco Oval (; nicknamed Subi) was a sports stadium in Perth, Western Australia, located in the suburb of Subiaco. It was opened in 1908 and closed in 2017 after the completion of the new Perth Stadium in Burswood. Subiaco Oval was the highest capacity stadium in Western Australia and one of the main stadiums in Australia, with a final capacity of 43,500 people. It began as the home ground for the Subiaco Football Club and from the 1930s onward was the home of Australian rules football in Western Australia. It hosted the annual grand final of the West Australian Football League (WAFL), with the ground record attendance of 52,781 set at the 1979 Grand Final. Anniversary Park (Rockingham)
Anniversary Park is an urban park located at the south end of the George Washington University campus, on F St NW, between 21st and 22nd St NW, in Washington, D.C. The park commemorates George Washington University's 175th anniversary and contains benches, a garden and grills. It had a dedication ceremony in October 1997 with a dedication from former DC mayor Marion Barry. As part of the GW Alumni Brick Program, bricks for the class of 1996 are located in Anniversary Park. There is also a memorial plaque and flowers for alumni who were killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
