2009 Texas Longhorns Football
The 2009 Texas Longhorns football team (variously "Texas" or "UT" or the "Horns") represented the University of Texas at Austin in the 2009 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by Mack Brown. Texas played their home games in Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. The Longhorns finished the season 13–1, and 8–0 in Big 12 play. They represented the Big 12 South Division in the Big 12 Championship Game where they defeated Nebraska 13–12 to become Big 12 Champions. The team finished the regular season ranked #2 in the Bowl Championship Series to earn a berth in the BCS National Championship Game where they were defeated by Alabama 37–21. Mack Brown
William Mack Brown (born August 27, 1951) is an American college football coach. He is currently in his second stint as the head football coach for the University of North Carolina, where he first coached from 1988 until departing in 1997, when he left Chapel Hill to become head coach for the University of Texas. In 2018, Brown was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Two days after Carolina fired Larry Fedora in November 2018, Brown was announced to return as the Tar Heels' head coach after a five-year hiatus from coaching, which he spent as an ESPN analyst. Prior to his head coach positions at Texas and North Carolina, Brown was head coach for Appalachian State and later, Tulane. Fox Sports Networks (FSN), formerly known as Fox Sports Net, was the collective name for a group of regional sports channels in the United States. 2009 Louisiana–Monroe Warhawks Football Team
The 2009 Louisiana–Monroe Warhawks football team represented University of Louisiana at Monroe as a member of the Sun Belt Conference during the 2009 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Led by Charlie Weatherbie in his seventh and final season as head coach, the Warhawks compiled an overall record of 6–6 with a mark of 5–3 in conference play, tying for third place in the Sun Belt. Louisiana–Monroe was bowl eligible, but was not invited to a bowl game. The team played home games at Malone Stadium in Monroe, Louisiana. Weatherbie was fired at the end of the season. 2007 Holiday Bowl
The 2007 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl was a college football bowl game played December 27, 2007 in San Diego. It was part of the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season and one of 32 games in the 2007–08 bowl season. It featured the Texas Longhorns against the Arizona State Sun Devils. Texas won 52–34 and set Holiday Bowl records for the earliest score and for most points scored in the first quarter. Texas also set a school record for most points scored in a bowl game.
