The 2009 Men's Oceania Cup was the sixth edition of the men's field hockey tournament. It was held from 25 to 29 August in Invercargill. The tournament served as a qualifier for the 2010 FIH World Cup. Australia won the tournament for the sixth time, defeating New Zealand 3–1 in the final. Grant Schubert
Grant Schubert ( OAM) (born 1 August 1980 in Loxton, South Australia) is a field hockey striker from Australia, who won the gold medal with the Men's National Team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. He was named ''World Hockey Young Player of the Year'' by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) in December 2003. Schubert now lives in Western Australia. Schubert was honoured as the most promising player at the 2003 Champions Trophy with nine goals in six matches. Earlier that year, on 9 July, he made his debut for ''The Kookaburras'' in a friendly match against Germany in Neuss. Nick Wilson (field Hockey)
Nicholas Wilson (born 6 August 1990) is a New Zealand field hockey player who plays at striker. He currently plays for New Zealand's Hockey National Team, the New Zealand men's national field hockey team, Black Stick men's team. Career He attended Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School and then on to Palmerston North Boys' High School, where he represented their first eleven team from 2005 to 2007. Wilson spent his final year at Westlake Boys High School in Auckland. Wilson made his first appearance for 'The Black Sticks' against Korea in New Zealand in November 2007 at the age of 17. Hayden Shaw
Hayden Jonathan Shaw (born 31 August 1980) is a field hockey player from New Zealand. Shaw was born in Christchurch. He earned his first cap for the national team, nicknamed ''The Black Sticks'', in 2002 against Australia. Shaw was often involved in penalty corner routines performing drag flicks. As a result, he was top scorer with 13 goals at the 2002 Commonwealth Games whilst winning a silver medal with the national team. After the 2006 Men's Hockey World Cup, Shaw was selected for the World Cup All Star team. He has played club hockey for HC 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands. Bradley Shaw (born 13 February 1983 in Christchurch) is a field hockey player from New Zealand, who earned his first cap for the national team, nicknamed ''The Black Sticks'', in 2004 at the Champions Trophy against the Netherlands. Richard Petherick (born 4 April 1986 in Hamilton) is a field hockey player from New Zealand. While at Hamilton Boys' High School Petherick played for regional and national representative teams. He earned his first cap for the national men's team, nicknamed ''The Black Sticks'', in 2005 against Malaysia. He also gained selection for both the Sultan Azlan Shah tournament in May and for the European tour in July. Petherick travelled as a reserve to the 2008 Summer Olympics but did not compete.
