2009 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship
The 2009 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 115th staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board in 1887. Adare were the defending champions. On 17 October 2009, Adare won the championship after a 1–17 to 0–03 defeat of Na Piarsaigh in the final. It was their fifth championship title overall and their third title in succession. It remains their last championship triumph. Adare GAA
Adare GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA club based in Adare, County Limerick, Republic of Ireland. Adare have reached the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship, County Senior Hurling Final on 12 occasions. After losing the finals of 1968, 1986, 1990, 1993 and 1996, they finally won their first championship in 2001 and successfully defended it in 2002. In 2003, they narrowly missed out on winning three county titles in a row after losing out to Patrickswell GAA, Patrickswell in the final. However, Adare managed to complete a historic 3-in-a-row in 2007 and 2008 and 2009. 2008 marked their first win in the Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship when they overcame Toomevara GAA, Toomevara. Ger O'Loughlin
Ger 'Sparrow' O'Loughlin (born 5 September 1967 in Clarecastle, County Clare, Ireland) is an Irish former hurling Manager (Gaelic games), manager and former player. An effective forward, O'Loughlin enjoyed a successful playing career at club level with Clarecastle GAA, Clarecastle and at inter-county level with Clare. He was a key member of the latter team during the 'golden age' of the 1990s and collected two All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland titles and three Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Munster titles in the space of four years. After a successful spell as manager of his native club Clarecastle, O'Loughlin took charge of the Adare GAA, Adare club in Limerick. Na Piarsaigh () is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated on the north side of Limerick City, Ireland. It was founded in 1968. Following their 1–15 to 3–11 victory in the 2022 Limerick Intermediate Football Championship over St Senan's, Na Piarsaigh are one of Four dual senior club in hurling and Gaelic football in Limerick. The club currently field five adult teams three in hurling (senior, Intermediate & Junior) and two in football (Senior & Junior), the most of any club in Limerick. Limerick Senior Hurling Championship
The Limerick Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bon Secours Hospital County Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Limerick SHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs in the county of Limerick in Ireland.
