2009 League Of Ireland First Division
The 2009 League of Ireland First Division season was the 25th season of the League of Ireland First Division. The First Division was contested by 12 teams and UCD won the title. Third placed Sporting Fingal also won the 2009 FAI Cup Final, qualified for the 2010–11 UEFA Europa League and were promoted to the Premier Division after winning a promotion/relegation play off. Clubs Overview This season saw the division expanded from 10 to 12 clubs. This was because the 2009 Premier Division was reduced to 10 clubs. The regular season began on 6 March and concluded on 7 November. Each team played the other teams three times, totaling 33 games. UCD finished as champions and were automatically promoted to the Premier Division. There was no promotion/relegation play-off between the First Division and the A Championship this season. The League of Ireland First Division ( ga, Céad Roinn Sraith na hÉireann), also known as the SSE Airtricity League First Division, is the second level division in both the League of Ireland and the Republic of Ireland football league system. The division was formed in 1985. It replaced the League of Ireland B Division as the League of Ireland's second level division. Since 2003 the First Division has operated as a summer league. Wexford () is the county town of County Wexford, Ireland. Wexford lies on the south side of Wexford Harbour, the estuary of the River Slaney near the southeastern corner of the island of Ireland. Longford
Longford () is the county town of County Longford in Ireland. It has a population of 10,008 according to the 2016 census. It is the biggest town in the county and about one third of the county's population lives there. Jackman Park
Jackman Park is a football ground in Limerick, Ireland. Located on the Lower Carey's Road, it was home to Limerick F.C. and is regularly used for various matches in Limerick, from schoolboy to women's international games. The ground's total capacity is 2,450 with a single 261-seat stand on the site of the former shed. It is situated next to Limerick railway station which is clearly visible from the shed side. Crescent College owned the ground in the 1970s before moving out to Crescent College Comprehensive. During their ownership Old Crescent played there. It was known as Priory Park during this time. Floodlights were installed in 1989. West Ham United and Celtic have played at the venue in friendlies. In 2021, Treaty United W.F.C. switched their home ground for Women's National League matches from Market's Field to Jackman Park. Pat Scully
Patrick Joseph "Pat" Scully (born 23 June 1970) is an Irish football manager and former player. An accomplished central defender during his playing days, Scully started his career in England, gaining one international cap, two B caps, one U23 cap and nine U21 caps for the Republic of Ireland during this spell before returning to Ireland. Playing career Scully was born in Dublin. As a player, he started his career at Arsenal, where he was part of the youth team that won the 1988 FA Youth Cup. Station Road is a football ground and training complex located in Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland. It is home to Leinster Senior League outfit Newbridge Town F.C. It was also the home of now defunct Eircom League Division One side Kildare County F.C. The ground was bought in the early 1980s by Newbridge Town F.C. Newbridge, County Kildare
Newbridge, officially known by its Irish name Droichead Nua (), is a town in County Kildare, Ireland. While the nearby Great Connell Priory was founded in the 13th century, the town itself formed from the 18th century onwards, and grew rapidly alongside a military barracks which opened in the early 19th century. Finn Park ( ga, Páirc na Finne) is a football stadium in Ballybofey, Ireland. The home ground of League of Ireland team Finn Harps, it has a 'safe capacity' of 4,200 with 351 seats. Facilities The ground is in a relatively dilapidated condition, although upgraded to modern safety standards. Ballybofey ( , ; ) is a town located on the south bank of the River Finn, County Donegal, Ireland. Together with the smaller town of Stranorlar on the north side of the River Finn, the towns form the Twin Towns of Ballybofey-Stranorlar.
