Breaststroke
Breaststroke is a swimming style in which the swimmer is on their chest and the torso does not rotate. It is the most popular recreational style due to the swimmer's head being out of the water a large portion of the time, and that it can be swum comfortably at slow speeds. In most swimming classes, beginners learn either the breaststroke or the freestyle (front crawl) first. However, at the competitive level, swimming breaststroke at speed requires endurance and strength comparable to other strokes. Some people refer to breaststroke as the "frog" stroke, as the arms and legs move somewhat like a frog swimming in the water. The stroke itself is the slowest of any competitive strokes and is thought to be the oldest of all swimming strokes. Andrei Yakovlevich Kalina (russian: Андрей Яковлевич Калина; born 21 July 1987) is a Ukraine-born Russian Paralympic swimmer who represented Ukraine from 2002 to 2013 and Russia since 2015. Biography Early life Kalina was born 21 July 1987 in Slavyansk (Sloviansk), Soviet Union, with a missing left lower arm. In 2000, he started swimming in the Donetsk-based sports center Invasport. However, he almost decided to retire from sports after he did not find good conditions even in Kyiv. So, he started search them outside of Ukraine, eventually deciding to emigrate to Russia. After finding better practice and living conditions in Russia, Kalina decided to represent Russia internationally in 2015. Oleksii Fedyna (born 8 October 1987) is a visually impaired Paralympic swimmer from Ukraine competing in S13 events. S13, SB13, SM13 are disability swimming classifications used for categorising swimmers based on their level of disability. Jane Buckley, writing for the Sporting Wheelies, describes the swimmers in this classification as having: "Swimmers who are the most sighted but are considered to be blind according to the IBSA B3." Enrique Floriano Millan (born 9 October 1982 in Lorca, Murcia) is a vision impaired B2/ S12 swimmer from Spain. Personal Floriano is from the Extremadura region of Spain. Floriano got a job with help from the Employment HPOD PROAD Program, which is helped by ONCE. In October 2013, he was awarded the Real Orden al Mérito Deportivo. Swimming In 2007, Floriano competed at the IDM German Open. Sergey Punko
Sergey Punko (also spelled Sergei, born 10 January 1981 in Navapolatsk) is a formerly Belarusian, now Russian, Paralympic swimmer. He was born with a progressive eye disease, but had normal sight as a child. He started swimming at age 10, and competed nationally and internationally in able-bodied competition until he was 21. By that time, he had less than 5% vision. Classified S12 (classification), S12, he began swimming in disability meets in 2002. He quickly broke long-standing world records, and was named List of Swimming World Swimmers of the Year#World Disabled Swimmers of the Year, World Disabled Swimmer of the Year in 2003.
