2009 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships
The 5th IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships took place in early 2009. The competition was divided into two tournaments, with Tournament B held from 15 to 21 March in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, and Tournament A held from 9 to 16 May in Ostrava, the Czech Republic. A total of thirteen teams participated; eight in Tournament A and five in Tournament B. The top six teams from Tournament A automatically qualified for the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The remaining two teams from Tournament A and the top two teams from Tournament B will play in the 2009 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey Paralympic Qualifier to determine who will take the remaining two Paralympic slots. SAREZ Winter Stadium
Sarez Lake (russian: Сарезское озеро; tg, Сарез кӯл, Sarez Kūl) is a lake in Rushon District of Gorno-Badakhshan province, Tajikistan. Taylor Chace
Taylor Chace (born May 9, 1986) is an American ice sledge hockey player. Chace is one of three children of Ric and Lisa Chace. He began playing ice hockey at age 5, and by age 16 was playing for the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs. During an October 2002 game, he was checked back-first into the boards. The impact broke the L1 vertebra in his lower back, resulting in an incomplete spinal cord injury and partial paralysis of his legs. Chace was introduced to the sport of sled hockey through Northeast Passage, a program affiliated with the University of New Hampshire, where his older sister was attending college. He was named to the U.S. national team in late 2005 and participated in the 2006 Winter Paralympics in Turin, Italy, where the team took a bronze medal. Helge Bjørnstad (born 14 October 1971) is a Norwegian ice sledge hockey player. As a member of the Norwegian ice sledge hockey team he has three silver (1994, 2002, 2006) from the Paralympic Games.
