2009 Categoría Primera B Season
The 2009 Categoría Primera B season, officially known as the 2009 Copa Premier season for sponsorship reasons) was the 20th season since its founding as Colombia's second division football league. Teams * Starting from this season, Córdoba F.C., Córdoba moved from Cereté to Sincelejo and was rebranded as Atlético de la Sabana, while Girardot F.C., Girardot moved to Palmira, Valle del Cauca, Palmira and became Deportes Palmira. * Dépor F.C., Dépor moved from Jamundí to Cali, and Expreso Rojo moved from Fusagasugá to Zipaquirá. Categoría Primera B
Categoría Primera B, commonly referred to as Torneo BetPlay Dimayor due to sponsorship by online betting company BetPlay (formerly ''Torneo Águila''), is the second-division football league in Colombia. Format DIMAYOR has applied a new format from 2015 onwards because of the expansion to 20 teams in the Primera A tournament. The league will no longer have Apertura and Finalización seasons but rather a yearlong tournament with home and away games. The first phase of the tournament is everyone against everyone home and away games. The second is a two-groups phase with the 8 top teams from the season who play each other to determine the winners of each group. The winners of the two groups are both promoted to the Primera A and play the final in home and away games to determine the champion of the season. Zipaquirá
Zipaquirá () is a municipality and city of Colombia in the department of Cundinamarca. Its neighboring municipalities are Cogua and Nemocón to the north; Tocancipá to the east; Tabio, Cajicá and Sopó to the south; and Subachoque and Pacho to the west. Real Santander
Real Santander is a professional Colombian football team based in Bucaramanga, that currently plays in the Categoría Primera B. They play their home games at the Estadio Villa Concha in Piedecuesta, a municipality in the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga. History The club was founded on 17 January 2006 in Floridablanca, Santander Department after the demise of Real Floridablanca eight years earlier. In late 2006 they acquired the license (''ficha'') of Pumas de Casanare and became affiliated to DIMAYOR, entering Categoría Primera B, Colombia's second tier in 2007. The club's best achievement in Primera B was a runner-up finish in the first tournament of the 2017 Categoría Primera B season, losing the double-legged final to Boyacá Chicó. Patriotas Boyacá
Patriotas Boyacá, also known as Patriotas, is a professional Colombian football team based in Tunja, that currently plays in the Categoría Primera B. They play their home games at the La Independencia stadium. History Patriotas was founded in 2003 by the then-governor of Boyacá Miguel Ángel Bermúdez, together with the then Coldeportes chairman and the owners of hardware business G&J. In its first year in the Primera B, the club reached the semifinals, where it was eliminated by Bogotá Chicó. In 2004 the team again advanced to the semifinals, where the team played against Deportivo Antioquia, Centauros Villavicencio and Expreso Rojo, but did not qualify. Expreso Rojo
Tigres Fútbol Club is a professional Colombian football team based in Bogotá that plays in the Categoría Primera B. They play their home games at the Metropolitano de Techo stadium. History The history of the club began in 1998 when the team played in the Categoría Primera B under the name Univalle, playing the first half in Jamundí and the second in Palmira with Hernan Dario Herrera as coach. In 1991 the team was renamed Expreso Palmira, due to the support of the carrier of the same name. In that season the coaches were Carlos Burbano and José Martínez, who left the team in tenth place. In the 2000 season with coach Eduardo Lara, the club played a prominent campaign to reclassification, and placed third, qualifying for the final round for the promotion. Leones F.C., also known as Itagüí Leones, is a professional Colombian football team based in Itagüí playing in the Categoría Primera B starting from 2019. They play their home games at the Estadio Metropolitano Ciudad de Itagüí. History Founded as ''Deportivo Rionegro'' in 1944, Leones Fútbol Club participated in all seasons of the Categoría Primera B from 1991 to 2017, when the team was runner-up of the tournament and was promoted to Categoría Primera A for the first time. The team played for almost forty years in the amateur league. The team's first president was Libardo Sanchez and his first manager was Alfonso Piedrahita. Corporación Deportiva Centauros Villavicencio, was a Colombian football club based in the city of Villavicencio. The club was founded on 14 January 2003 and played its home games at the Manuel Calle Lombana stadium, which has a capacity of 15,000 seats.
