2009 Arkansas Razorbacks Baseball Team
The 2009 Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team represented the University of Arkansas in baseball at the Division I level in the NCAA for the 2009 season. Dave van Horn, a former Razorback player, is the coach in his fifth year. The team clinched a berth in the 2009 College World Series with a defeat of the Florida State Seminoles on June 6. Dave Van Horn
David Kevin Van Horn (born September 17, 1960) is an American baseball coach and former infielder, who is the current head baseball coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. Playing career Born in Stanton, California, Van Horn graduated from Winnetonka High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1979. He then played junior college baseball at McLennan Community College in Texas for two years, earning all-conference and all-region honors as a freshman, while helping the Highlanders finish third in the JUCO World Series. His next season brought more individual and team success, as the team finished eighth in the nation and Van Horn earned All American and Region 5 Player of the Year accolades. Turning down the Chicago White Sox, who drafted him, he transferred to Arkansas for the 1982 season. Zack Cox
Zackary Kendrick Cox (born May 9, 1989) is an American retired professional baseball third baseman. Amateur career Cox was born in Campbellsville, Kentucky. He attended Pleasure Ridge Park High School in the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood of Louisville, and played for the school's baseball team. Cox was selected in the 20th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He did not sign, and instead attended the University of Arkansas, where he played college baseball for the Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team. In 2009, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League, and was named West division MVP of the league's annual all-star game. The Florida Gators baseball team represents the University of Florida in the sport of baseball. The Centenary Gentlemen and Ladies are composed of 20 teams representing Centenary College of Louisiana in intercollegiate athletics, including men and women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, and swimming. Men's sports include football, baseball and lacrosse. Women's sports include gymnastics, softball, and volleyball. The California Golden Bears are the athletic teams that represent the University of California, Berkeley. The Valparaiso Beacons is the name of the athletic teams from Valparaiso University – often referred to as Valpo – in Valparaiso, Indiana, United States. The Beacons compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level and are members of the Missouri Valley Conference in all sports except football, bowling, and men's swimming. The Western Illinois Leathernecks are the teams and athletes that represent Western Illinois University, located in Macomb, Illinois, in NCAA Division I sports. Located in Pullman, Washington, WSU is a member of the Pac-12 Conference in NCAA Division I. Todd Andrew Smyly (born June 13, 1989), nicknamed "Big Shooter", is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB). Michael P. Bolsinger (born January 29, 1988) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. James Thomas McCann (born June 13, 1990) is an American professional baseball catcher for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, and New York Mets. Prior to his professional career, McCann played college baseball at the University of Arkansas.
