Penalty Shootout (football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). Steven Fletcher (footballer)
Steven Kenneth Fletcher (born 26 March 1987) is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for Scottish Premiership club Dundee United. Fletcher began his club career with Hibernian, playing in 156 Scottish Premier League games and scoring 43 goals. English club Burnley paid a club record transfer fee of £3 million to sign Fletcher in June 2009. He was their top goalscorer in the 2009–10 season with eight league goals, but the club were relegated from the Premier League. Fletcher was transferred soon afterwards to Wolverhampton Wanderers, who also paid a club record fee, of £6.5 million, for his services. He scored 24 goals in 68 appearances for Wolves, but the club were relegated from the Premier League in 2012. Fletcher was then transferred to Sunderland for £12 million. Falkirk Stadium
The Falkirk Stadium is a football stadium in Falkirk, central Scotland, which is the home ground of Scottish League One club Falkirk and Lowland Football League club East Stirlingshire. The stadium has a capacity of and currently consists of three fully completed stands. The stadium was opened in 2004 with the main stand completed. Kevin David McDonald (born 4 November 1988) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Exeter City. He began his career with Dundee before moving to England to sign for Burnley, for whom he played one season in the Premier League. He spent two full seasons with Sheffield United before moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2013 where he spent three seasons. McDonald signed for Fulham in 2016 and made his full international debut for Scotland in March 2018. His career was disrupted by illness, which resulted in him needing a kidney transplant. He left Fulham in 2021 and, after recovering from the operation, he signed for Dundee United. Ross McCormack (born 18 August 1986) is a Scottish professional footballer who most recently played as a striker for Aldershot Town. McCormack started his career with Scottish Premier League club Rangers in 2002, where he made few appearances and was loaned to English League One side Doncaster Rovers in January 2006. Scott Harry Nathaniel Arfield (born 1 November 1988) is a professional association footballer who plays as a midfielder for Scottish Premiership club Rangers. 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship Qualification
The 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Championship started on 31 May 2007 with a qualifying competition and finishes on 15 October 2008, before the final tournament on 15–23 June 2009. 51 of the 52 other nations in UEFA's jurisdiction, including Montenegro and Serbia who competed separately for the first time, went through a series of qualifiers to decide the seven other teams to join Sweden at the finals. Andorra did not take part. The first stage of the qualifying competition is a group stage followed by play-offs. Each group winner, as well as the four highest ranked second place teams, will advance to the play-off. The play-off will determine which seven nations join Sweden in the final tournament. Sūduva Stadium
Marijampolė Football Arena, also referred to as Hikvision Arena or Sūduva Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Marijampolė, Lithuania. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Sūduva. Between the 2011 and 2019 seasons the stadium was named ARVI Football Arena after the sponsoring rights were bought by ARVI Enterprises Group. The stadium was built using funds from the European Union and opened on July 6, 2008. Its original capacity increased from 4,200 to 6,500 spectators after additional seats were installed in May–June 2009 before a match between Lithuania national team and Romania. 11 December 2019 reports were published that ARVI Group will no longer support Sūduva club.
