2008–09 USC Trojans Men's Basketball Team
The 2008–09 USC Trojans men's basketball team represented the University of Southern California during the 2008-09 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Trojans, led by 4th year head coach Tim Floyd, played their home games at the Galen Center and were members of the Pacific-10 Conference. They finished the season 22–13, 9–9 in Pac-10 play. They won the 2009 Pacific-10 Conference men's basketball tournament over Arizona State. They went to the 2009 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament as a 10th seed, where they lost in the 2nd round to Michigan State. Tim Floyd
Tim Floyd (born February 25, 1954) is a former American college basketball coach, most recently the head coach at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He was formerly the head coach of several teams in the NCAA and the NBA. Floyd is also known as the coach of the Chicago Bulls for four seasons. He announced his retirement from coaching after the UTEP game on November 27, 2017. Personal life Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Floyd is a 1977 graduate of Louisiana Tech University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education. He originally was a walk-on player at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, but he transferred to Louisiana Tech in Ruston and was a scholarship player there. His father, who was also a coach, died when Floyd was 18. Floyd and wife Beverly have one daughter, Shannon. Taj Gibson
Taj Jami Gibson (born June 24, 1985) is an American professional basketball player for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Gibson played college basketball for the USC Trojans men's basketball, USC Trojans and was selected 26th overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 2009 NBA draft. The power forward played mostly a sixth man role off the bench for the Bulls before being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2017, later signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves the same year. The 2008–09 Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team represented the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in the 2008–09 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Mocs, led by head coach John Shulman, played their home games at the McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, Tennessee, as members of the Southern Conference. The Mocs won a share of the SoCon North Division title, and won the 2009 SoCon tournament, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as the 16th seed in the West region. The Puerto Rico Tip-Off was an early-season college basketball tournament owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television that took place in late November of each year from 2007 through 2017, usually the week before Thanksgiving. History The Puerto Rico Tip-Off began in 2007. From 2007 to 2011, it was held in José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
