2008–09 Tulane Green Wave Women's Basketball Team
The 2008–09 Tulane Green Wave women's basketball team will represent Tulane University in the 2008–09 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Green Wave were coached by Lisa Stockton. The Green Wave are a member of Conference USA and attempted to win the Conference-USA championship. Fogelman Arena
Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse is a 4,100-seat, multi-purpose arena built in 1933 on Tulane University's Uptown campus in New Orleans, Louisiana. Since its opening, it has been home to the Tulane Green Wave men's and women's basketball teams and the women's volleyball team. Devlin is the 9th-oldest continuously active basketball venue in the nation. Tulane Gym and Fogelman Arena eras Construction of Tulane Gym began in 1931 with funds earned from the football team's appearance in the 1932 Rose Bowl, and as a result it was known for many years around campus as "Rose Bowl Gym." A three-point field goal (also 3-pointer, three, or trey) is a field goal in a basketball game made from beyond the three-point line, a designated arc surrounding the basket. In basketball, free throws or foul shots are unopposed attempts to score points by shooting from behind the free-throw line (informally known as the foul line or the charity stripe), a line situated at the end of the Key (basketball), restricted area. In basketball, a rebound, sometimes colloquially referred to as a board, is a statistic awarded to a player who retrieves the ball after a missed field goal or free throw. Rebounds in basketball are a routine part in the game; if a shot is successfully made possession of the ball will change, otherwise the rebound allows the defensive team to take possession. Brett Benzio
Brett Benzio (born April 27, 1990) is an American basketball center for the Tulane University Green Wave. She grew up in Carol Stream, Illinois and went to high school in Florida. She is the 3rd child of Edward and Barbara Benzio of Palm City, and sibling to Brooke Benzio (31), Brian Benzio (27), and Brittney Benzio (23) (who was a member of the Georgia Southern University Lady Eagles basketball team). Her father Edward was also a collegiate athlete, who wrestled for Indiana. Her oldest sister Brooke is an attorney located in South Florida, and her brother is a recent graduate of the University of Florida. Playing career High school Benzio is from Palm City, Florida, located on the Treasure Coast, just north of West Palm Beach, and averaged 12 points per game and almost two blocks per contest in her first 90 games of high school. The Tulane Green Wave are the athletic teams that represent Tulane University, located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Tulane competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the American Athletic Conference (The American). There are 14 Green Wave intercollegiate programs.
