2008–09 Philadelphia 76ers Season
The 2008–09 Philadelphia 76ers season was the 70th season of the franchise, 60th in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team finished with a .500 record. Following a 9–14 start, the team fired Maurice Cheeks and replaced him with Director of Player Personnel Tony DiLeo on an interim basis. The team went 32–27 after the change and made the postseason. Two things memorable about the season is that the team returned to the classic uniform style the team wore in the 1980s, and the Sixers defeated the Chicago Bulls in a game played at The Spectrum, the team's home from 1967 to 1996. Maurice Cheeks
Maurice Edward Cheeks (born September 8, 1956) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who serves as assistant coach for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has also served as head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Detroit Pistons. Cheeks was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a player in 2018. He was the first player with 2,000 steals solely in the NBA. Early life and college Cheeks was born in Chicago on September 8, 1956, and grew up in the Robert Taylor Homes. He attended DuSable High School. He only had significant playing time on the basketball team in his senior year. The Chicago Bulls are an American professional basketball team based in Chicago. Shavlik Randolph
Ronald Shavlik Randolph (born November 24, 1983) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils after a decorated high school career. After going undrafted in the 2005 NBA draft, Randolph played parts of eight seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). In addition to playing in the NBA, Randolph has played in China and Puerto Rico, averaging a league-high 32.0 points per game during the 2012–13 CBA season and was ranked in the top-five for rebounds per game in both his seasons in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional. Kevin Ollie
Kevin Jermaine Ollie (born December 27, 1972) is an American basketball coach and former player who most recently was the interim head coach for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is the former head coach of the University of Connecticut men's basketball team and one of only four African-American coaches to ever win an NCAA men's basketball championship. Ollie graduated from UConn in 1995 with a degree in communications. He played for twelve NBA franchises, most prominently in three stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, in thirteen seasons from 1997 to 2010 after beginning his career with the CBA in 1995. Andre Tyler Iguodala ( ; born January 28, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player who played for 19 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The swingman was an NBA All-Star in 2012 and was named to the NBA All-Defensive Team twice. Iguodala won four NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors and was named the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2015. Herbert Hill (born October 1, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player. Hill attended Providence College. He stands . Calvin Lawrence Booth (born May 7, 1976) is an American professional basketball executive and former player who was the general manager of the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Utah Jazz are an American professional basketball team based in Salt Lake City. Florida Gators Men's Basketball
The Florida Gators men's basketball team represents the University of Florida in the sport of basketball. The Gators compete in NCAA Division I's Southeastern Conference (SEC). Marreese Akeem "Mo" Speights (born August 4, 1987) is an American former professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
