2008–09 Oakland Golden Grizzlies Men's Basketball Team
The 2008–09 Oakland Golden Grizzlies men's basketball team was a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I college basketball team representing Oakland University. Oakland was picked to finish third in The Summit League's preseason poll. was voted to finish first and North Dakota State second. However, only eight votes separated the three teams. Senior forward Derick Nelson and junior guard Johnathon Jones were named to the Preseason All-League First Team. Senior guard Erik Kangas was named to the Second Team. Prior to the first game of the year against Cleveland State, senior forward Derick Nelson suffered a foot injury and sat out most of the season. Nelson played in two games against Eastern Michigan and Michigan State, but did not record a point and took a medical redshirt. Greg Kampe
Greg Charles Kampe (born December 9, 1955) is an American college basketball coach and the current head men's basketball coach at Oakland University. He guided the Golden Grizzlies to their first NCAA Division I tournament and tournament win in 2005. Through the 2016–17 season, he has compiled a record in 33 seasons at Oakland University. Kampe, a member of the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, is one of nine Division I basketball coaches who have been at the same school for at least 25 seasons. Kampe is the second longest-tenured Division I head coach, behind Jim Boeheim. Kampe won The Summit League's coach of the year four times, the most recent being in 2010 and 2011. Kampe won his 500th career game January 26, 2013. On May 30, 2017, Kampe was one of eight new inductees announced for the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in Detroit. Detroit Country Day School (also known as DCD, DCDS, or Country Day) is a private, secular school located in four campuses in Oakland County, in the U.S. state of Michigan, north of Detroit. Lake Orion ( ) is a village in the northern outskirts of Metro Detroit in Oakland County, Michigan, United States. The population was 2,973 at the 2010 census. "Lake Orion" can refer to either the village or the much larger Orion Township, of which the village is a part. Clarkston High School is a public high school located in Independence Township, Michigan. It is the only high school in the Clarkston Community Schools. History Clarkston High School used to be in Clarkston, Michigan. The third Clarkston School was built in 1910 on Main Street (M-15). By the time the fourth Clarkston School was completed in 1930 in Independence Township, the area's population had started to decline. After World War II, Independence Township's population began to boom. In 1952, Clarkston Community Schools was formed and Clarkston and Andersonville Elementary Schools were completed, leaving the 6th-to-12th graders as sole occupants at the newly renamed Clarkston High School. DeWitt is a city in Clinton County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,507 at the 2010 census. Okemos High School is a public high school in Okemos, Michigan, United States. It is the only high school in the Okemos Public Schools district. It is located southeast of the main campus of Michigan State University, between Bennett and Jolly Roads on the North and South, and Hulett and Hagadorn Roads on the East and West. Will Hudson
William Robert Hudson (born March 30, 1989) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for Oakland University where he broke the school record with 137 games played and 345 offensive rebounds. High school career Hudson attended Middleton High School in Middleton, Wisconsin where he was a three-time all-conference selection and a three-time letterwinner in basketball for head coach Kevin Bavery.
