2008–09 Maryland Terrapins Men's Basketball Team
The 2008–2009 Maryland Terrapins men's basketball team represented the University of Maryland in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I competition as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The Terrapins qualified for the NCAA tournament for just the second time since the 2003–04 season. Maryland advanced to the second round before being eliminated by second-seeded Memphis. This exceeded expectations for the team, which had been described as a team that was small in stature without any highly touted athletes. Gary Williams
Gary Bruce Williams (born March 4, 1945) is an American university administrator and former college basketball coach. He served as the head coach at the University of Maryland, the Ohio State University, Boston College, and American University. In 2002, he led Maryland to win the NCAA tournament championship. Williams retired after the 2010–11 season, and is now a college basketball analyst for the Big Ten Network. Playing career Williams played for Maryland as the starting point guard under coach Bud Millikan. He was a member of the 1966 Charlotte Invitational Tournament championship team and the 1965 Sugar Bowl Tournament championship team. He set a Maryland record for field goal percentage, going 8-for-8 from the field in an ACC game against South Carolina in 1966 (35 years later a Williams pupil, Lonny Baxter, would break that record, hitting all ten of his field goal attempts). Sean Mosley
Sean Mosley (born March 19, 1989) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Hapoel Tel Aviv B.C. of the Israeli Basketball Premier League. High School career While in high school Sean was named Player of the Year by the Baltimore Sun at St. Frances Academy. Sean was also named the 2008 Gatorade Player of the Year in Maryland where he finished his career as the second-leading scorer in Maryland high school basketball with 2,933 points. In his senior season he helped his team win the Baltimore Catholic League championship. College career Sean Mosley played his entire college career (2008–2012) for the University of Maryland. Landon Milbourne
Landon Milbourne (born June 29, 1987) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Maccabi Ashdod of the Israeli Premier League. He played college basketball at the University of Maryland before playing professionally in France, Greece, Italy, Spain, Puerto Rico and Israel. Milbourne is a left-handed 2.01 m (6 ft 7 in) tall small forward-power forward.
