2008–09 Dayton Flyers Men's Basketball Team
The 2008–09 Dayton Flyers men's basketball team represented the University of Dayton during the 2008–09 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Flyers, led by sixth year head coach Brian Gregory, played their home games at the University of Dayton Arena and were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 27–8, 11–5 in A-10 play for a tie for second-place. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they defeated West Virginia in the round of 64 before losing in the round of 32 to defending national champion Kansas. The Flyers first round win was the program's first in the NCAA Tournament since 1990, when they defeated Illinois in the round of 64. Brian Gregory
Brian Francis Gregory (born December 15, 1966) is an American college basketball coach who was most recently the head men's basketball coach at South Florida Bulls men's basketball, South Florida. He was previously serving as a consultant to Tom Izzo at Michigan State Spartans men's basketball, Michigan State after being let go as head coach with Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men's basketball, Georgia Tech. Prior to coaching at Georgia Tech, he was the head coach at Dayton Flyers, Dayton and an assistant coach under Izzo at Michigan State. Maywood, Illinois
Maywood is a village in Proviso Township, Cook County, Illinois, United States in the Chicago metropolitan area. It was founded on April 6, 1869, and organized October 22, 1881. The population was 23,512 at the 2020 United States Census. History There was limited European-American settlement in the Maywood area before a railroad was built after the American Civil War, which stimulated the rise of Chicago. At least one house in what became Maywood is known to have been used as a station on the Underground Railroad, to aid refugee African-American slaves in escaping to freedom in the North.
