2008–09 Albany Great Danes Men's Basketball Team
The 2008–09 Albany Great Danes men's basketball team represented the University at Albany, SUNY during the 2008–09 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Great Danes, led by eighth year head coach Will Brown, played their home games at SEFCU Arena as members of the America East Conference. They finished the season 15–16, 6–10 in America East play to finish in seventh place. As the seventh seed in the 2009 America East tournament, they upset second seed Vermont in the first round before losing to sixth seed UMBC in the semifinals. Will Brown (basketball)
William J. Brown (born October 8, 1971) is an American basketball coach. He is the former head men's basketball coach at Albany, where he served from 2002 to 2021, guiding the Great Danes to five NCAA tournament appearances. Playing career Born in Miller Place, New York, Brown played collegiate basketball at Dowling College, starting for three years. He finished his career as the school's all-time leader in assists, three-point field goals and free-throw percentage, and is the only player in Dowling history to score 1,000 points and tally 500 assists. Coaching career Brown began his coaching career at The College of Saint Rose, serving as an assistant coach for three seasons. He then became the head coach at Sullivan County Community College, compiling a record of 90–10 in three seasons. The DePaul Blue Demons men's basketball program is the NCAA Division I intercollegiate men's basketball program of DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. The team competes in the Big East Conference. The Blue Demons play home games at Wintrust Arena at the McCormick Place convention center on Chicago's Near South Side. The MVP Arena (originally Knickerbocker Arena, and then the Pepsi Arena and Times Union Center) is an indoor arena located in Albany, New York. It is configurable and can accommodate from 6,000 to 17,500 people, with a maximum seating capacity of 15,500 for sporting events. Siena Saints Men's Basketball
The Siena Saints men's basketball team (formerly the Siena Indians) represents Siena College in Loudonville, New York, United States. The NCAA Division I program competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and the annual Franciscan Cup. The Saints are currently coached by Carmen Maciariello. He was named the program's 18th head coach in school history on March 25, 2019. Siena plays its home games at the 14,500 all-seater MVP Arena in downtown Albany. The Penn Quakers men's basketball team is the college basketball program representing the University of Pennsylvania. As the twentieth-winningest men's basketball program of all-time, the team from Penn had its greatest success from 1966 to 2007, a period of over 40 years. Levien Gymnasium
Francis S. Levien Gymnasium is a 2,500-seat arena at Columbia University in Morningside Heights, Manhattan, New York City. Named for New York lawyer-industrialist Francis S. Levien (1905–95), it is home to the Columbia Men's and Women's Basketball teams and the Women's Volleyball team. It is also used for gym classes in between games. The Columbia Lions basketball team is the basketball team that represents Columbia University in New York City. The school's team currently competes in the Ivy League. Smithfield is a town that is located in Providence County, Rhode Island, United States. It includes the historic villages of Esmond, Georgiaville, Mountaindale, Hanton City, Stillwater and Greenville. The population was 22,118 at the 2020 census. Chace Athletic Center
Elizabeth and Malcolm Chace Wellness and Athletic Center is a multi-purpose arena in Smithfield, Rhode Island. It is home to the Bryant University Bulldogs men's and women's basketball teams as well as the women's volleyball team. The venue received additions in the 2000s and 2010s under Bryant President Ronald Machtley and athletic director Bill Smith. Its current capacity is 2,000 with upgrades that include over 650 chairback seats opposite the team benches in 2018. The 2018 upgrades also included new basketball locker rooms, a press conference room, and improved locker rooms for Bryant's swimming & diving programs, whose pool is connected to the original structure with the Chace gym. The Chace became infamous following a brawl between fans of Wagner College and Bryant in the 2022 Northeast Conference men's basketball tournament .
