2008 Women's College World Series
The 2008 NCAA Division I softball tournament was held from May 15 through June 4, 2008. 64 NCAA Division I college softball teams met after having played their way through a regular season, and for some, a conference tournament, to play in the NCAA Tournament. The tournament culminated with eight teams playing in the 2008 Women's College World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 2008 Arizona State Sun Devils Softball Team
The 2008 Arizona State Sun Devils softball team represented Arizona State University in the 2008 NCAA Division I softball season. The Sun Devils were coached by Clint Myers, who led his third season. The Sun Devils finished with a record of 66–5. They played their home games at Alberta B. Farrington Softball Stadium and competed in the Pacific-10 Conference, where they finished first with a 18–3 record. The Sun Devils were invited to the 2008 NCAA Division I softball tournament, where they swept the Regional and Super Regional and then completed a run through the Women's College World Series to claim their first NCAA Women's College World Series Championship. Patrick Murphy (softball)
Patrick Stacy Murphy (born November 28, 1965) is an American softball coach and the current head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide softball team. He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame on May 7, 2022the first softball coach to be so honored. Early life and education Murphy was born in Waterloo, Iowa, and raised in nearby Fayette. Murphy graduated from Fayette High School and completed his B.S. in history education at the University of Northern Iowa in 1988. Coaching career Early coaching career While attending Northern Iowa, Murphy coached Little League baseball. After graduating from college, Murphy became varsity baseball coach at Sumner High School in Sumner, Iowa, leading the team to a 22–3 record in his first season of 1989 and the state championship game in 1990.
