The 2008 Copa Nextel Stock Car was the 30th Stock Car Brasil season. It began on April 13 at the Interlagos and ended on December 7 at the same circuit, after twelve rounds. Stock Car Pro Series, formerly known as Stock Car Brasil, is a touring car auto racing series based in Brazil organized by Vicar. It is considered the major Brazilian and South American motorsports series. Starting in 1979 with Chevrolet as the only constructor, the series has also seen other constructors joining in and leaving such as Mitsubishi, Peugeot and Volkswagen, currently the only other beside Chevrolet is Toyota. The series is composed by 12 rounds, with the most important race, the Corrida do Milhão (English: ''The'' ''Million Race'') being worth double points and has a prize pool of R$1 million. The competition has seen many internationally famous drivers on its ranks, such as Rubens Barrichello, Felipe Massa, Jacques Villeneuve, Lucas di Grassi, Nelson Piquet Jr., Ricardo Zonta, Tony Kanaan and António Félix da Costa. Ingo Hoffmann (born February 28, 1953) is a Brazilian retired racing driver from São Paulo. He is most well known for winning the Brazilian Stock Car Championship 12 times (1980, 1985, 1989-1994, 1996-1998 and 2002). He also participated in six Formula One Grands Prix, debuting on January 25, 1976. He scored no championship points. History Early career Hoffman began his career in Brazil competing in Formula Vee and saloon cars. He came to England in 1975 and competed in Formula Three in a March, before moving into Formula One in 1976. Formula One years Hoffmann's Formula One career was hindered by the financial problems of the Fittipaldi team, and he drove the team's second car when realistically the team could only afford to run one. Tarso Anibal Santanna Marques (born 19 January 1976) is a Brazilian racing driver who competes part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 79 Ford Mustang for Team Stange Racing in both series. Luciano Pucci Burti (born 5 March 1975) is a Brazilian racing driver who briefly raced in Formula One. He is now a commentator for TV Globo. Early career Burti's early career saw him graduate through the usual channels and he found himself in British Formula 3 driving for the crack Stewart Racing team. Hoover Orsi Pereira Martins (born May 16, 1978 in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul) is a Brazilian race car driver. He began his professional career in 1998 in the European Formula Renault series where he captured 4th place. Flávio Pagano "Nonô" Figueiredo (born May 13, 1971, in São Paulo) is a Brazilian auto racing driver. He is better known as "Nonô"" Figueiredo and drives in the Brazilian V8 Stock Car Series. Átila Roberto de Abreu (born 10 May 1987 in Sorocaba) is a Brazilian racing driver.
