2008 Romanian Local Elections
Local elections were held in Romania on 1 June 2008, with a runoff for mayors on 15 June 2008. Two-round System
The two-round system (TRS), also known as runoff voting, second ballot, or ballotage, is a voting method used to elect a single candidate, where voters cast a single vote for their preferred candidate. It generally ensures a majoritarian result, not a simple plurality result as under First past the post. Under the two-round election system, the election process usually proceeds to a second round only if in the first round no candidate received a simple majority (more than 50%) of votes cast, or some other lower prescribed percentage. Democratic Forum Of Germans In Romania
The Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania (german: Demokratisches Forum der Deutschen in Rumänien, DFDR; ro, Forumul Democrat al Germanilor din România, FDGR; in short or ) is a political party (legally recognized as an association of public utility according to the governmental decision HG 599 as per 4 June 2008) organised on ethnic criterion representing the interests of the German minority in Romania. Tulcea
Tulcea (; also known by other alternative names) is a city in Northern Dobruja, Romania. It is the administrative center of Tulcea County, and had a population of 73,707 . One village, Tudor Vladimirescu, is administered by the city. Sector 3 (Bucharest)
Sector 3 ( ro, Sectorul 3) is an administrative unit of Bucharest. It is the most populous, most densely populated and also the third-largest division of the city. Actually, at its total population of over 460 thousand, it is the second-most populated administrative area of Romania, only after the capital city. It is also the most important of all six sectors of Bucharest, as it includes the Downtown Bucharest, the Kilometre Zero and other significant landmarks. Liviu Negoiță
Liviu Gheorghe Negoiţă (born 22 March 1962) is a Romanian politician and lawyer, member of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) and the former mayor of Bucharest's Sector 3. Biography Born in Brăila, Negoiţă completed his law degree in 1990, at University of Bucharest's Faculty of Law and was a practising lawyer. Aside from Romanian, he speaks English and Italian. Slatina (, bg, Слатина) is the capital city of Olt County, Romania, on the river Olt. It is located in the south of Romania, on the eastern side of the river Olt, in the historical region of Muntenia. The population was 70,293 in 2011; the urban area has around 85,000 inhabitants.
