2008 Philadelphia Soul Season
The 2008 Philadelphia Soul season was the fifth season for the franchise. The Soul started the season by winning their first nine games. Finishing the regular season with a 13–3 record, this was the Soul's best regular season to that point in their then-short history. They won their first Eastern Division title, and went into the playoffs as the top seed in the National Conference. Against the New York Dragons, the Soul won their Divisional round game by a score of 49–48 to advance to the National Conference Championship. They won that game on July 12, 2008, against the Cleveland Gladiators, 70–35. They won ArenaBowl XXII in New Orleans on July 27, 2008, against the defending champion San Jose SaberCats. Bret Munsey
Bret Munsey (born August 19, 1968) is an American football coach. Previously he was the head coach for the Orlando Predators and Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League, and also an executive for the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League. Playing career College years After graduating from Winter Park High School, Munsey played college football for Concord College, where he was a four-year starter and letterman. He led his team in receiving three of those years and was an All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection. Arena Football League Munsey played wide receiver/ defensive back for the Orlando Predators in 1991. Coaching career Munsey began his coaching career as the defensive coordinator of the Augusta Stallions of af2 in 2000. He helped the Stallions to a 13–3 record and an American Conference Championship. The Georgia Force season was the seventh season for the franchise. Starting the season 3–5, the Force finished the regular season with 7 wins in their last 8 games, ending with a 10–6 record, and winning their second consecutive Southern Division title, allowing them to enter the playoffs as the 2nd seed in the National Conference. The Cleveland Gladiators season is the 12th season for the franchise, their first season in Cleveland. The Gladiators finished the regular season with a 9–7 record, and made the playoffs as the 4th seed in the National Conference. 2008 Dallas Desperados Season
The 2008 Dallas Desperados season is the seventh season for the franchise. The Desperados finished the regular season 12–4, but despite having the second best record in the National Conference, they made the playoffs as the 3rd seed because they did not win their division. Their Wild Card round opponent was the New York Dragons, a team which the Desperados had defeated in both regular season meetings. The Dragons, unfortunately for the Desperados, won the game that counted the most of the three, eliminating the Desperados from the playoffs by a score of 77–63. The San Jose SaberCats season was the 14th season for the franchise. The SaberCats looked to improve on their 13–3 record from 2007 and defend their ArenaBowl title. Finishing the regular season with an 11–5 record, though not as successful as the previous season, still won them a third consecutive Western Division title, and they went into the playoffs as the 2nd seed in the American Conference.
