The 2008 season was the 13th season of New York Red Bulls's franchise existence. They played their home games at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. New York Red Bulls
The New York Red Bulls are an American professional soccer club based in the New York metropolitan area. The Red Bulls compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference. The club was established in October 1994 and began play in the league's inaugural season in 1996 as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars. In 2006, the team was sold to Red Bull GmbH and re-branded as part of the company's global network of soccer clubs, hence its current name. The Red Bulls have played their home matches at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey since 2010, having previously played at Giants Stadium. The club is one of two teams in MLS based in the New York metropolitan region along with New York City FC, which entered the league in 2015. Dave Van Den Bergh
Dave van den Bergh (; born 7 May 1976) is a Dutch football coach and former player who played as a left winger. Career Europe A product of the famed AFC Ajax youth program, Van den Bergh played for Ajax from 1995 to 1997, winning one league title during that time and reaching the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League. Between 1997 and 2000, he played for Rayo Vallecano in Spain, helping the team get promoted to the Primera División, and earning their first UEFA Cup qualification. Between 2000 and 2006, he played for Utrecht in the Netherlands, contributing 29 league goals over that span and helped the team earn five straight UEFA Cup appearances. Chris Leitch
Chris Leitch (born April 1, 1979 in Pickerington, Ohio) is a retired American soccer player who is currently the general manager and a former head coach for the San Jose Earthquakes. Career College Leitch played college soccer at the University of North Carolina, leading them to the NCAA Championship in 2001, setting a school record for games played (88) and starts (87). Professional Leitch was drafted by Columbus Crew in the fourth round of the 2002 MLS SuperDraft, but only played 13 games for his hometown team in his first professional season. Luke Sassano
Luke Stephan Sassano (born October 14, 1985 in Orinda, California) is an American former soccer player. Career Youth and college Sassano began his career at Lamorinda Soccer Club. He attended Miramonte High School in Orinda, California, and played college soccer at the University of California, Berkeley. He was an All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention in 2005, a Pac-10 All-Academic Honorable Mention in 2007, and a Pac-10 1st Team in 2007. Andrew Boyens
Andrew Victor Boyens is a New Zealand international footballer who plays and coaches with amateur side Forrest Hill Milford. Boyens has represented New Zealand at the international level. Christopher Megaloudis (born May 14, 1984 in Queens, New York) is a Puerto Rican international footballer. Career Youth career Chris played soccer in high school at Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School. He is the school's all-time leading goal scorer. Juan Pietravallo
Juan Martín Pietravallo (born December 7, 1981) is an Argentine footballer. Career Pietravallo started his career at Vélez Sársfield, where he made his first appearance in the Clausura 2000 tournament. He played for Vélez until he moved to Olimpo in 2002. Oscár Marino Echeverry Lourido (born January 13, 1977) is a Colombian football forward, who last played for New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer. Club career Echeverry made his debut in the Colombian First Division in 1996 with Deportivo Cali. He remained at the club two years before joining upstart Deportivo Pasto. While at Pasto he helped the club gain promotion to the Colombian First Division. In 1999 with Deportivo Fasto, Echeverry enjoyed his finest season netting 9 goals in 38 appearances. Dane O'Brian Richards (born 14 December 1983) is a Jamaican former professional footballer, who played as a winger. He spent the majority of his career with Major League Soccer club New York Red Bulls. Career Youth and college Richards was a member of the youth system of Jamaican National Premier League side Seba United while attending Cornwall College in Montego Bay, where he won the DaCosta Cup and Olivier Shield. He moved to the United States to play college soccer in 2003. Jon Conway (born May 6, 1977) is an American retired soccer goalkeeper and current goalkeeping coach for Toronto FC. Gabriel Alejandro Cichero Konarek (born 25 April 1984) is a Venezuelan former professional who played as a centre-back or left back. Personal life He is the son of Mauro Cichero who was a professional football player and represented Venezuela in the 1980 Olympics.
