2008 NACAC Under-23 Championships In Athletics
The 5th NACAC Under-23 Championships in Athletics were held in Toluca, Mexico, at the Alberto "Chivo" Córdova Stadium at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México on July 18–20, 2008. Toluca
Toluca , officially Toluca de Lerdo , is the States of Mexico, state capital of the State of Mexico as well as the seat of the Municipality of Toluca. LeJerald ''"Sticks"'' Betters (born 6 February 1988) is an American former sprinter specializing in the 400 metres. He was a five-time NCAA Division I champion in relays, and in 2010 he was a member of the gold medal-winning 4 × 400 m relay team at the World Indoor Championships. Biography Betters attended Waco High School, where he was a 2-time state champion in the 400 metres as well as a state champion in the triple jump as a junior. As a member of the Baylor Bears track and field team, Betters won five NCAA Division I championships in the 4 × 400 m from 2007 to 2009, as well as third-place finish in the individual 400 m in 2008. Later in 2008, Betters won his first individual international championship with a gold medal in the 400 m at the 2008 NACAC U23 Championships in Athletics, finishing in a time of 44.75. The 5000 metres or 5000-metre run is a common long-distance running event in track and field, approximately equivalent to or . It is one of the track events in the Olympic Games and the World Championships in Athletics, run over laps of a standard track. The same distance in road running is called a 5K run; referring to the distance in metres rather than kilometres serves to disambiguate the two events. 1500 Metres
The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run (typically pronounced 'fifteen-hundred metres') is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletics since 1983. It is equivalent to 1.5 kilometers or approximately miles. The event is closely associated with its slightly longer cousin, the mile race, from which it derives its nickname "the metric mile". The demands of the race are similar to that of the 800 metres, but with a slightly higher emphasis on aerobic endurance and a slightly lower sprint speed requirement. The 1500 metre race is predominantly aerobic, but anaerobic conditioning is also required. Rob Novak (born March 20, 1986) is a runner who specialized in the 800 meters. He represented the United States at the 2008 NACAC U23 Championships, where he placed first overall in the men's 800 meters. He ran at the 2012 US Olympic Trials. Running career High school Novak attended Bordentown Regional High School, graduating in 2005. In his freshman year, he ran 4:52 in a 1600-meter trial in his gym class. He had a background in American football, in which he played for Bordentown as wide receiver. At one point before high school he was diagnosed with asthma. Collegiate Novak attended Seton Hall University with a track scholarship.
