2008 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship
The 2008 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship was the inaugural junior female world ice hockey championship. It was held from 7 to 12 January 2008, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The championship is the junior ice hockey version of the women worlds, held under the auspices of the IIHF. The inaugural competition featured two groups of nations in round robin play, followed by playoffs. There were eight national teams. Marie-Philip Poulin
Marie-Philip Poulin-Nadeau (born March 28, 1991) is a Canadian ice hockey forward, currently with the PWHPA and who serves as captain of the Canada women's national ice hockey team, Canadian national team. A three-time Olympic and three-time World champion with the Canadian national team, Poulin famously scored the game-winning goal in the gold medal games in three out of four of the Olympics in which she competed (2010 Olympic Winter Games, 2010, 2014 Winter Olympics, 2014 and 2022 Winter Olympics, 2022), for which she was dubbed Captain Clutch by her teammates and the media. Lucie Povová
Lucie Povová (born September 16, 1992) is a Czech ice hockey player who won a gold medal with the Czech Republic at the 2011 IIHF Division II Worlds. She was part of the Czech team that competed at the 2013 IIHF Women's World Championship in Ottawa. Playing career Povová participated in ice hockey for four years at Wyoming Seminary in Pennsylvania. In addition, she was a goaltender on the Wyoming Seminary soccer team for four years, including two as captain. She is also part of her Czech National Team since the age of 15. Czech Republic On January 8, 2008, Povová scored in an 11-2 loss to Canada at the 2008 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship. Alena Mills (born 9 June 1990) is a Czech ice hockey player who last played for Brynäs IF Dam of the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL) and former Captain (ice hockey), captain of the Czech Republic women's national ice hockey team. Klara Myrén (born 25 May 1991) is a Swedish ice hockey player and former member of the Swedish national ice hockey team. She represented Sweden at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Her college ice hockey career was played with the Vermont Catamounts women's ice hockey program of the NCAA Division I. Playing career Myrén played with Leksands IF Dam of the Riksserien, during the 2010–11 season. Statistically, she registered 11 goals and 13 assists in 21 games.
