The 2008 IIHF World Championship Division II was an international Ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The tournament was contested from April 7–13, 2008. Participants in this tournament were separated into two separate tournament groups. The Group A tournament was contested in Miercurea Ciuc, Romania. Group B's games were played in Newcastle, Australia. 2007 IIHF World Championship Division II
The 2007 IIHF World Championship Division II tournament consisted of two groups of six teams. Group A was held in Zagreb, Croatia from April 11 to 17, 2007, while Group B was held in Seoul, South Korea from April 2 to April 8, 2007. Croatia won Group A and South Korea won Group B, with both teams being promoted to the Division I tournament. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey. Hunter Ice Skating Stadium
The Hunter Ice Skating Stadium is an ice sports and public skate centre, opened in 2000 and located in Warners Bay, a suburb of Lake Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia. IIHF World Championship Division II
The IIHF World Championship Division II are an annual sports event organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The division championships are played in two groups, part of the Ice Hockey World Championships From 2001 until 2011, the two national teams that finished last in their groups in Division I were relegated to Division II for next year's World Championships. At the Division II Championship, the winner of each group was promoted to next year's Division I, while the loser of each group was relegated to the IIHF World Championship Division III. Beginning in 2012, the Group A champion was promoted to Division I Group B, and was replaced by that tournament's last placed team.
