2008 Grenadian General Election
General elections were held in Grenada on 8 July 2008. Out of a total of fifteen seats, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) won eleven seats and the governing New National Party (NNP) won four, bringing the NDC to power for the first time since 1995. The NNP was looking for a fourth consecutive term in power, which would have been a first in Grenadian history. House Of Representatives Of Grenada
The Parliament of Grenada is composed of the monarch and two chambers: Senate and the House of Representatives. It operates from the New Parliament Building in St. George's. Structure Parliament consists of the King, represented by the Governor General, the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Governor-General summons Parliament, brings its session to an end by prorogation, and formally assents to every bill before it can become law. Saint David Parish, Grenada
Saint David's Parish is the fourth largest of the parishes of Grenada in the island's southeast. The parish's main town (really just a large village) is St. David's, located between La Tante and Westerhall. Because St David's is so small, the parish is sometimes referred to as "The Virgin Parish". The parish's coast to its east has spectacular headlands, bays and inlets. The unspoilt rocky coastline slopes up gently towards the central mountainous ridge, and its beauty lies in its undeveloped bucolic state and secluded beaches.
