The 2008 Dominican Republic Volleyball League was the 2nd official season of the event. The SEDEFIR Cup was dedicated to Daniel Toribio. Karla Echenique
Karla Miguelina Echenique (born May 16, 1986 in Santo Domingo) is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, who played as a setter for the Women's National Team at the 2008 Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan, but did not qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics. She, and the Dominican Republic team did, however, qualify for the 2012 Summer Olympics, where they finished 5th. Personal Life: Karla has a brother and more than one sister. One of her sisters is Michelle Echenique who is a current student at The University of Florida. Brenda Castillo
Brenda Castillo (born June 5, 1992, in San Cristóbal) is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic and plays as a libero. She was a member of the Dominican Republic national team that won fifth place in the 2012 Summer Olympics, while she was named the tournament's Best Libero. She played in the 2014 World Championship reaching also the fifth place and ranking 17th in the 2010 World Championship and the 2011 FIVB World Cup where her national team ranked eight and the 2015 FIVB World Cup, winning the Best Libero individual award and ranking in seventh place. Cosiri Rodríguez Andino de Dionicio (born August 30, 1977, in San Cristóbal) is a retired volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, who competed for her native country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, wearing the number #15 jersey. There, she ended up in eleventh place with the Dominican Republic women's national team. Career She started representing her home country in the 1993 Central American and Caribbean Games in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Nuris Arias Doñé (born May 20, 1973 in San Cristobal) is a retired volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, who won the gold medal with the women's national team at the 2003 Pan American Games in her home town of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Lisvel Elisa Eve-Castillo (''née'' Eve Mejía, born September 10, 1991 in Puerto Plata) is a female volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, who played for the Women's National Team at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Amaury Eduardo Martínez Aguilera (born February 13, 1973) is a male volleyball player from the Dominican Republic. He participated with the men's national team in the 2007 NORCECA Championship in Anaheim, United States. His team finished in 5th place and he was awarded the "Best Libero" award. Career Martínez played with Bameso at the 2004 USA Open Championship. There, his team finished with a 9–0 mark to win the Championship.
