2008 Colorado Rapids Season
The 2008 Colorado Rapids season was the thirteenth season of the team's existence. Colorado began their season with 4-0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy and ended a 1-1 draw against Real Salt Lake. They finished 4th in the Western Conference and 9th overall, 1 point behind the New York Red Bulls for the final Wild Card Playoff spot. In the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying, Colorado defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0 before losing in Kansas City in a penalty shootout. The Colorado Rapids are an American professional soccer club based in the Denver metropolitan area. The Rapids compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference. Founded in 1995, as part of the Anschutz Corporation, later to be a founding sports franchise of the global sports & entertainment juggernaut AEG, the club is a founding member of MLS, playing their first season in 1996. The Rapids are owned by the Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, also owners of the Denver Nuggets of NBA, Colorado Avalanche of NHL, and other sports teams outside of the state of Colorado. Dick's Sporting Goods Park, also known as DSG Park, is a soccer-specific stadium located in Commerce City, Colorado that is home to the Colorado Rapids men's professional soccer team. The stadium seats up to 18,061 people for soccer matches, but can accommodate up to 19,734 for special soccer events and 27,000 for concerts. Legends Field is a baseball park in Kansas City, Kansas, located in the Kansas City neighborhood of Piper. John DiRaimondo (born April 23, 1986 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American soccer player. Career Youth DiRaimondo went through an accelerated high school program at St. Louis University High that allowed him to graduate a year early alongside fellow soccer player and childhood friend Brian Grazier. While on the team, DiRaimondo lived in Florida and was roommates with Grazier. In 2003, he was named as the Parade Magazine All-American and competed in the McDonald's All-American game. Scott Ryan Sealy (born 4 June 1981, in Chaguanas) is a Trinidadian footballer who most recently played for FC Dallas in Major League Soccer and the father of Dante Sealy.
