Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium (Beijing)
The Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium () is an indoor arena next to the Olympic Sports Center Stadium at the southern part of the Olympic Green in Beijing, China. It was reformed for the 2008 Summer Olympics where it hosted the handball tournaments up to and including the quarter-finals, after which they moved to the larger Beijing National Indoor Stadium. Following the handball competitions, the 2008 Beijing Wushu Tournament took place at the venue. Lin Fan (wushu)
Lin Fan (; born January 30, 1987) is a retired wushu taolu athlete from China. Career Lin's first major international appearance was at the 2007 World Wushu Championships in Beijing, China, where she won the first gold medal of the competition in nanquan. A year later, Lin was selected to compete at the 2008 Beijing Wushu Tournament and won the gold medal in women's nanquan. At the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, she won in the women's nanquan and nandao combined event and a year later, won in the same event at the 2010 Asian Games in Gunagzhou. Her last competition was at the 2011 World Wushu Championships in Ankara, Turkey where she was the world champion in nanquan. Erika Kojima (小嶋 絵里香; born 4 October 1988) is a former wushu taolu athlete from Japan. She won the silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Wushu Tournament, that was held in tandem with the 2008 Summer Olympics, in the women's nanquan event. She won the bronze medal at the 2005 World Wushu Championships, the silver medal at the 2007 World Wushu Championships and became a world champion at the 2011 World Wushu Championships. Diana Bong Siong Lin
Diana Bong Siong Lin (born 5 September 1985) is a wushu taolu coach and retired athlete from Malaysia. Career Bong's first major international victory was at the 2006 Asian Games where she won the bronze medal in women's nanquan. The following year, she was a gold medalist in nanquan at the 2007 Southeast Asian Games and a silver medalist in nanquan at the 2007 World Wushu Championships. She then won the bronze medal in women's nanquan at the 2008 Beijing Wushu Tournament. She then won another gold medal in nanquan at the 2009 Southeast Asian Games and a bronze medal in nangun at the 2009 World Wushu Championships. Nanquan (martial Art)
Nanquan refers to a classification of Chinese martial arts that originated South China. The southern styles of Chinese martial arts are characterized by emphasis on "short hitting" and specific arm movements, predominantly in southern styles such as Hung Kuen, Choi Lei Fut, Hak Fu Mun, Wuzuquan, Wing Chun, and so on. History and development of Southern Kung Fu During the Ming Dynasty, there were Wokou (Japanese pirates) active on the coast of China. At one point, Generals Qi Jiguang and Yu Dayou were stationed in Fuqing and Putian in the Central Fujian. The local monks in those areas defended themselves using iron rods to repel the pirates. Nangun
The Nangun () is a variation of the application of the " northern Chinese staff", which is featured in contemporary wushu exercises and forms. It is based on staff techniques coming from Southern Chinese martial arts. Its movements stress hitting, in contrast to the cutting and swinging techniques of the northern staff. The 2008 Beijing Wushu Tournament (Chinese: 北京2008武术比赛; pinyin: ''Běijīng 2008 wǔshù bǐsài'') was a wushu competition which was held from August 21 to 24, 2008 at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Beijing, China. The tournament was organised by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG), the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), and the Chinese Wushu Association (CWA), and was held in tandem with the 2008 Summer Olympics. The competition consisted of ten taolu events (5 male, 5 female), and five sanshou events (3 male, 2 female). The Chinese team dominated the competition with eight gold medals followed by Russia and Hong Kong which earned two gold medals each.
